  1. Thankyou jb!I got a better concept on 3D now ;)
  2. I'm a newbie in 3D, please don't mind if i had asked a stupid question. In the past i saw ppl shoting with the ''side by side'' method only(forgive me on this...my hometown got poor development on 3D stuff). just curious, wt's the difference between shooting in side by side and the split-beam rig?
  3. I've try to use the Cokin Black Net filter with HVX200, the dof of the camera is too large, the black net will be visible at wide end, in my memory, u need to zoom into around more than 15-20mm to make the black net become invisible, may be u should try to use classic soft HD which is decided for HD camera
  4. But all the lenses were in good conidtion in HongKong, i double check them one by one, is that cause by temperature change?
  5. :( I hand carried my lens case with me on plane from HongKong to Taiwan, when i arrived Taiwan(which is really colder than HongKong for approx. 4-6 degree and more humid) i find that all my lens have a strange oil layer which occupied ''only'' 75% of the surface of the front and rear piece of the lens(it's the most weird part). I think that it was a fog layer due to temperature change, so i leave my lens case opened to reduce the fog, but it fail( I did this for a whole day). Then i try to clean the oil layer with the Tiffen lens tissue, chamois cloth, micro-fibre lens cloth, it fail again, when ever i clean the oil layer, it disappear for about 3-5seconds, and it come back again. Finally, I try to clean it with kodak lens cleaner, it seems to works better, but after half a day, the oil layer come back again. The oil layer is not visible without a flashlight, i tried to look through the lens with a light bulb, it's not visible too. When to flashlight is lighting the lens with a back side light, the oil layer become extremely visible, and the circular pattern will change if i clean it with a cloth. Does anyone encounter such kind of problem before? I've no more idea on how to clean this strange oil layer anymore! :( (I don't want to clean it with 99% alcohol) *some additional detail, there is one lens without oil layer and it's a new Canon Zoom lens(EF mount), and all the lens suffering now are Nikon AI old mf lens
  6. ;) Thanks for your kind reply David. Now i am starting to worry about the lenslets will be "visible" with my Panasonic HVX200 Did anyone try to use the classics soft with a HVX200?I will use the filter in closeup shot only...I believe the focal length will be sth like 25mm-35mm and around F/2.8-4, will the lenslets come into focus?
  7. :P I just found out that the Schneider Optics produce a new Classic Soft which is HD Classic Soft. Is there a huge difference between them? The only thing i notice now is the HD one come with an extra 1/16 Density. And also, is classic soft very insensitive to normal exposure area?cause i never used one of them and i am going to give a try on it soon on my next short clips:P
  8. I think that you should get a rod support system if u don't have one.The mount of the Letus35 is just a simple screwing-in design,i did try to use it without a rod support with a 135mm f/2.8 , then the adapter fall from the screwing-in mount... :(
  9. Since I never use a bosch's meter,I can only leave comments on Hilti and Leica I got a Hilti PD42 and a Leica A3, comparing in the responsing speed, i would suggest you to buy Hilti's stuff
  10. I think for a 2nd AC, the most important tool you miss is a pair of leatherman multi-tools;) It helps me greatly no matter i work as 1st or 2nd or even Camera operator;)
  11. Thankyou for Micheal and David's kind answering! :P Will Micheal consider DVC-Pro HD as high quality recording media? becoz i had a really bad experience on the varicam's post color grade... And i believe that the film's budget would be quite tight on the post...probably they will do the color grading in Color only.... I do want to avoid the noise come out from decontrast in post, so do you guys think Low Contrast filter would be a good suggestion?
  12. Hi dear all! I am going to start a shortfilm's project recently with Panasonic Varicam w/Pro35 and Carl Zesis HighSpeed Prime, i got a few questions on the low contrast filter which is my first time to use. 1)Does low contrast filter work like pro-mist in the relationship of filter density and focal length? For example when i use a 50mm lens with a 1/4 Pro-mist in the first shot, in the 2nd shot when i change to a 100mm lens I will need to change the pro-mist into a 1/8 one in order to get the picture's continuity does low contrast filter work in that way too?or the Filter density of low contrast filter are just indicating how much detail it reserve in the dark area? 2)Any caution on using the low contrast filter?for example avoiding flare?(just like those stuff like classic soft) 3)Can adjusting black gamma be an alternative for low contras filter?I heard someone said the low contrast filter will make a softer image on the black area, will it be very annoying/observable for some shots in the same scene are adjusing contrast by black gamma and some are done by low contrast filter?(Since sometimes i afraid i will use more than 5 filters on my 6.6"x5.6"Production matte box...) Thanks for your kind reply! ;)
