  1. Who is August Loessberg? He is listed on the Eclair 16mm Community site - http://eclair16.com/resources/ Not certain who he is or what services he provides? Alain
  2. Nick, Have you tried Steenbeck in Holland? www.steenbeck.com They might have a deal on a refurbished machine. Alain
  3. Thanks Mitch, I have been watching the Abel site, though the cameras currently listed are priced over my head. Best, Alain
  4. Want to Buy AATON XTRprod in good condition with solid service history, prefer owner-operator camera over rental cameras. Looking for basic package, no lenses. --Alain
  5. Please help if you can, we are in need of a 60 Hz crystal sync generator (preferably with a 1/4" out, but any connector will do as we can make the required cable if necessary). The device we had on order has been further delayed, and we needed this item yesterday. I realize The Film Group makes these, however their turnaround time is 2 weeks, which too late for our use. If you have a 60 Hz crystal sync generator you are willing to sell, or one you can loan/rent to us for 60 days, then please get in contact with us. Thanks, Alain

  7. Thanks to those who have already endorsed the petition. It's been on the web for 6 days and has about 1600 endorsements. Please take a moment to endorse the petition, and help circulate to those you feel would be interested in supporting this effort. Best, Alain
  8. Not meaning to duplicate efforts here, but other worked slowed us from getting the following petition together and online. Thanks to web developer Sam Miller for his assistance. Below is a link to a petition requesting Eastman Kodak continue production of low speed Black & White camera stocks 7265 and 7231. Please help by endorsing the petition and continuing to circulate to individuals and organizations who you feel would be interested in supporting this effort. 40 Frames will send the completed petition on to Eastman Kodak. http://40frames.org/kodak_7231/ Regards, Alain LeTourneau Pam Minty 40 FRAMES
  9. Todd, Last petition received several thousand endorsements, impressive but not impressive enough. I think sales are more impressive than endorsements. And I think color reversal by comparison is less popular than Plus-X (7231, 7265). The UN54 (100) as I recall is similar to 7231 in grain structure. What I did not test was pull process, as this can increase your latitude and lower the grain. Worth a test, I'd try it if you wan to shoot some ORWO. The shedding issue I may have been able to eliminate if make a small adjustment to the mag pressure shoe. I didn't bother because I was plenty happy with 7231 and could get it cheaper than ORWO. I did telecine the ORWO on a Spirit, why do ask? Alain
  10. Regarding a PETITION, I don't mean to discount other efforts (simply add to them), but www.40frames.org will have a petition to endorse on our website by the end of next week. I'll post here when it's up on the site. 40 Frames did a similar petition when Kodak announced discontinuing 7360, 7361 and 7250. Of course, it wasn't successfully, but the effort can help to send a message and show a certain level of interest. Though such petitions would probably have to gain 10,000 endorsements to get Kodak's attention. As for other BLACK & WHITE camera negatives, FOMAPAN reversal processed as negative, ORWO UN54 and N74, and one can process Kodak 7266 (Tri-X) as negative. ORWO looks great, as good as 7231 or 7222 IMHO, but it's expensive when compared to Kodak (about $90/400 ft last I used it), there's no education discount, and for those of us on this side of the pond it has to be shipped from Germany which adds to the expense. There are some labs however that you may be able to work with to include some camera stock in their next order to print stock from ORWO. I number of labs in North American are printing BWN on ORWO. Last I talked with ORWO about expanding into the North American market they expressed low interest and no immediate future plans to market their stocks in the North America. The downside of ORWO is it tends to shed a lot compared to Kodak stocks, at least this has been my experience when running ORWO through my Aaton XTR. The last bit of UN54 I shot and printed on 7302 looked amazing, a nice blue black similar to the old Ilford BWN but with better contrast like Kodak. Alain
  11. Thanks, my order is in progress.... need 400's or I'll buy from people 100-400'. I'll re-spool 100' if that's all I can locate. Alain
  12. Kodak's recent announcement of discontinuing 16mm Plus-X Negative (7231) has come at a bad time as I'm in the middle of a project shooting on the stuff. I know Double-X is still available, but I would like to find additional supplies of Plus-X. Please let me know if you have any to donate or sell. Here's the project: http://www.emptyquarterfilm.org/synopsis.php I have 200' of ORWO N74 (ISO 400), four 100' rolls of 7245 (50D), and a bunch of recanned and short ends Vision 2 stocks to trade if interested. Alain
  13. Yes, thanks, I spotted that item. The sells is a little strange, so I was hoping to find a better source, I really just need it for one shoot, so a rental would be best. If I cannot find the Canon, I have access to a Nikon 50-300, it's great just a lot heavier than the Canon. Thanks again, Alain
  14. I'm in search of a Canon 50-300mm zoom for shoot May 22-June 6. I'd either like to purchase the lens, or rent it. I'd prefer Aaton mount, but Arri B would work as well. Alain
  15. WTB - Aaton XTR magazine Looking for good condition XTR magazine. Alain

  21. 16mm KEM Rapid 6-plate flatbed editor This machine is in perfect operating condition. Purchased from the original owner in Vancouver BC, I personally transported this KEM to ensure safe transit. KEM is a modular system, meaning one can also use 35mm picture and sound modules on the same machine. All parts are interchangable, older machine modules will easily integrate with newer ones. KEM is well known for it's small footprint (space saver), and this particular model can be tilted back on it's own support legs for easy maintenance and repairs. This circa 1980 machine has special 16mm sound modules with spring-loaded heads. This feature slows or prevents certain wear characteristics created by magnetic film running over the head, and permits extended use of the sound heads. Machine comes with additional parts listed below. • (2) KEM speakers, late-model, excellent condition • (2) Plates 2000' (for running long lab rolls) • (2) K-521 electronic counters (to replace manual counters on older machines) • Spare printed circuit boards • Other spare parts • PLUS - Magnasync 2200 16mm mag recorder. This unit has been aligned and biased for Kodak/Pyral 810PB stock. $1200 plus crating/freight or local pick-up
