  1. I'm buying lights for a small studio I work often at in the NYC area. We're looking for a 8 or so tungsten heads, from 2K on down. Pricing at B&H Photo, along w/stands, doors, scrims and 5 c-stands is at around 6K going generally w/Mole heads. Any suggestions on where else to price this out? Where also interested in purchasing used stuff, but I've been unable to locate any so far. thanks.
  2. I'm new to the Varicam, and I'd like to download some setting files to test. The manual doesn't offer much explanation. I know it uses an SD card, but in what format do the files have to be in? And can anyone recommend some profiles to download? Thanks all.
  3. I have found the 750 to be quite inferior to the 900. I think the lower level of A/D processing very visibly comprises tonal gradations.
  4. Any thoughts/preferences on the image quality of these two cameras? I haven't used the 570, but was impressed w/the Ikegami DV7 (which is based on a 500) vs. Beta. Am setting up a job that will be a two camera shoot in four different cities -- cameras will have to be locally sourced -- the DV7 is unlikely to be available everywhere. Would like to use the SDX900, but don't expect it will be avail. everywhere as well. Thanks all.
  5. Thanks for the info. everyone. Given what I'm shooting, the pulldown judder might be a problem which is why I'm looking at 29.97 or 30p. Didn't think there would be any difference in look between the two, but that's the great thing about this forum, direct access to first-hand experience and first-rate insight. Mr. Mullen, I believe I read you were nominated into the ASC. Congratulations.
  6. Will be shooting a spot with the Sony 900 soon. The HD tapes will be downconverted for editing and budget restrictions prevent HD reconform/finishing. Which frame rate am I better off with in this scenario, 29.97 or 30P? Does it matter? What are the considerations? Thanks all.
