  1. Any, literately any help would be greatly appreciated on this topic. My client wants to shoot on the Weiss high speed camera and they want to work with the RAW files. What does that shoot, DPX? What hardware/software should I recommend they rent to use this footage, nothing if off the table. Will Davinci Resolve be able to work with it? Any help would be appreciated. The option to run it HDSDI out was ruled out, they want to work with the RAW files. Thank you!
  2. I'm gaffing a film this weekend and the DP wants to do a shot of a television but can't afford to pay for the rights to whatever TV show is on it so stylistically she wants it to blow out (bright) the camera. But, we're using Kodak Ektachrome 100 Color reversal. We have access to a TV frame (gutted TV) and I thought about putting a 1K behind it with some CTB a piece of diffusion where the screen would be and then waving a piece of CTO in front of it but I think that might look like the TV is one fire rather than images moving on it. Suggestions?
  3. When in May, if it's early in May (before 14th) I can help you out. Demo reel and resume jeffhayford.com/film jeffhayford.com
  4. I just did a shoot where I ordered 4 rolls of Fuji film and I asked for "test rolls" and the first guy told me that they "don't do that anymore" so I gave my bummed out speech and he put me on the line with another rep. This new guy was originally going to offer me one 400' roll of "test film" and then I asked if I could split that into four 100' rolls for which he said yes and I got some 64, 125, 250 and 500 speeds. Fuji 100' cans are small and funny looking cause they're miniature Fuji rounded boxes. The film of course comes on daylight spools but worked perfectly for the inserts. This may be a student thing as all of this was done with student prices.
  5. I called EP, they do have some amazing prices on stuff although their rental catalog is a bit slim. I was able to score a Sekonic L-558 at Calumet in Cambridge for $25 a day (weekend = 1 day) they require a $500 credit card deposit but I think that will work for now. Course now that I said that everyone is going to want to rent it from there. They only have 1 Sekonic digital light meter for rental but they take reservations months in advance. I'm going to keep searching for a 758 or at the very least something for this coming weekend. Thanks for your help, let me know if you stumble on anything.
  6. I am eventually but last I checked they were in the 2-300 range and I just need something quick for this weekend shoot I'm doing. I'm gaffing this film and they are using color reversal and cross processing and I want my readings to be fairly accurate because the DP wants to underexpose a lot of stuff for high contrast. Do you know anyone I might be able to ask that could point me in the right direction, a photo house etc?
  7. Does anyone know where to rent a Sekonic 700 Dualmaster light meter in or around Boston, MA? Boston Camera doesn't have the digital ones, but suggested a photography house in town. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  8. Anyone know where to find free carbon copy camera logs? I asked Fuji and they didnt have any. I'd ask Kodak but I'm shooting all Fuji Film, is there a place that sells really cheap generic carbon copy camera logs?
  9. I was told by my local renting house that the video tap shorts out the camera. Does anyone know what Boston Camera Rental Company might be referencing? Does anyone know of a specific video tap shorting out the SR1?
  10. Can the SRI use a color video tap, or is there any way to get a video pickup on the SRI? We need to put the camera on a jib and see the frame. Jeff
