  1. The problem would be finding DS8 film perfed only on one side. Even classic DS8 film is hard to find. There's only Fomapan and Kahl I think.
  2. I think this is what you mean: http://www.super8site.com/fanzine/aktuell/r_muster.shtml
  3. What do you mean by "super16 Berthiot zoom"? The Berthiot zooms were designed long before super16 even existed. They're made for regular 16mm and should work fine on your H-16.
  4. Oh yes, this was a very common problem on the 6080. Especially the early ones. I remember reading somewhere that the problem may have been resolved on the very last 6080s produced but I have no information whether this is true or not. Better to be safe: only use rechargeable AAs (1.2V) or the dedicated NiCd pack (7.2V).
  5. Actually, in JK's DS8 conversions of Bolex H8RX, the new gate is slightly offset to match the new optical axis. It's not ideal but in this particular case it doesn't seem to cause any problems. The best choice for a super16 conversion is a camera with a 13x viewfinder. I still do super16 conversions here in Canada. You can contact me directly for more information.
  6. Back in the 60s and 70s, DS8 was cheaper by the foot than super8 in cartridges. There was a definite economic advantage to shooting DS8. After when demand fell, it became a specialty product and DS8 became generally more expensive than super8 cartridges. Only Fomapan's prices have remained reasonable.
  7. Wittner in Germany announced a few years ago that they had acquired a perforator for DS8 and had it completely refurbished at great expense and had the intention to offer DS8 stocks.AFAIK nothing ever came of this project. If they still have the machine they're not using it. Retro8 in Japan has a new perforator that seems capable of producing DS8.
  8. Samuel, I have a few Berthiot 17-85mm zoom lenses w/dogleg. If you're interested PM me.
  9. I don't understand what exactly you are doing nor what you are trying to accomplish with this modification. If the lens is out of adjustment on a H16RX, it needs to be collimated, that's all.
  10. The adapter would have to be custom made. I have made some in the past. PM me for details.
  11. Not really sure what that third pin is for. Might be used when the camera is connected to the Bolex intervalometer unit.
  12. For simple triggering on and off, the third pin is not used. I forgot to mention that later models of the EL have a 5-pin connector in place of the 3-pin connector. The pin assignations for triggering are the same.
  13. Get a 3-pin female Tuchel connector. On the cable from the handle to the camera, cut the end off and solder one wire to pin 1 of the Tuchel and the other to pin 2. The trigger on the camera should run the camera now.
  14. Your existing handle can be modified to trigger the EL.
  15. If that's accurate, the camera would be running at more than double it's speed. I would think that there is a problem with the footage counter. There is no adapter for the H8RX, it's a modification of one of turret openings. Not sure if the Fujinon zoom would fit. I'll check tomorrow.

  17. I don't understand how you arrive at these "run time" calculations.
  18. I'm pretty sure they send it to Andec in Germany.
  19. Saw this on the FrameWorks mailing list: I've got to pare down my studio to make room for new projects. Tire kickers welcome! 'Just browsing' totally ok! Bad trades encouraged! Low Ballers forced to splice loops, though. I've got the next two weeks to start moving things around, so if you're in NYC and want to peruse my work hovel, come on down. I'll ship film outta town, but much prefer to do it in person, as I can stuff your pockets with brown 16mm leader and feel like I'm making a dent in the pile. Also pricing everything would just take too long and I'm not Type A. I've got the following for sale: EQUIP: Auricon cm-71 with battery dummy installed (plugs into wall). 20. It looks exactly like the lens fitted to one of the Pathé DS8 models. That's why the gearing of the aperture control ring is different than the Beaulieu version.
  21. Look up linear solenoid or linear actuator. You'll have to build your own rig around it.
  22. Theoretically respool and rethread is supposed to be the preferred way. However, I have a feeling very few people actually do this and just rewind the film in the camera and reshoot.

  24. Pictures are not clear enough to be judged but there definitely is something that looks funny about the Switar.
  25. You didn't mention using recans and short ends. I assumed you were comparing list prices from Kodak for brand new stock.
