  1. I am selling 15 rolls of 16mm Kodak Vision3 200T 7213. I got these directly from Kodak 3 years ago. They are factory sealed and have been in a humidity-controlled dedicated film fridge for that entire time. I would love to get $100/roll for them and sell all of them at once, but I am willing to negotiate if you are interested and even more willing to negotiate if your a student. Captain Phillips, Beasts of the Southern WIld and Hurt Locker are just a few great films in the last few years shot on the robust format of super16 :) Nathan
  2. Price down to $1200. Free shipping still included! Nathan

  8. In about a month I will be going to Hong Kong to do a small corporate video shoot for about a week. I will be bringing the camera but am looking for a place to rent a small Grip/Electric package (that can fit into a rental mini-van) and a 20'/6 meter jib with operator for a few specific days. We obviously need the jib to be delivered separately from our small van :) I have spoken with Asia Pacific Vision (APV) a little bit but was wondering if anyone had any other options or contacts that could help me. Thanks! Nathan
  9. Thanks for the info. I have already set up some meetings and will give these places a call/look as well. Nathan
  10. Hello All, I am looking for a few reputable high end VFX houses in LA to work on some TV spots I am doing. The spot will be about $200k (US) total budget. The VFX' will largely be sci-fi oriented, spaceship landing, tele-porting people and objects etc... Right now I am trying to get a few ideas so I can get some meetings set up when I am in LA next week. Thanks for the recs in advance. Nathan
  11. I was on this film. While the names were changed the film is based on a true story. And that is how the true story ended. Tragic, but true. Glad you liked it though. It was a interesting shoot!
  12. I recently watched this film on DVD. It looked very nice and was a compelling film. I was wondering if anyone knows what format it was shot with. I assumed it was 35mm but the grain was nicely apparent (in that i thought the grain was very nice looking) so i was assuming an older stock or perhaps no post grain reduction, but then i saw a picture taken on the set in the Hollywood Reporter and the camera, mostly obscured, looked like it might have been 16mm. Anyone know? Nathan
  13. So I just read the March issue of American Cinematographer and was blown out of the water by Gordon Lonsdales use of 5299 on the TV show Bones. According to Kodak the Stock is rated between 320 and 500ASA. Yet Lonsdale uses it between 320 and 1000ASA and occasionally pushes it to 2000ASA. With the exception of pushing the film to 2000 he claims you can re-rate within the same roll and do little more than shooting a new chart! "Bones is the first show I have ever set my meter to 2000 ASA" (Pg 55) According to Kodak you "must be used with the KODAK VISION2 HD Digital Processor." yet: "When Lonsdale ran his emulsion tests through the digital processor, he didn't care for the results. Ultimately he and Level 3 dailies colorist Rick Smith decided to transfer the film at 1080p 24fps on a Spirit and and grade with a da Vinci 2K. In that respect 5299 'is no different than any other film stock'." (57) the article further talks about them shooting a scene in a LA restaurant at night at 2000ASA and lens at a T2! then an interesting last quote: "If you don't transfer at exposure and clip out the windows and highlights when necessary 5299 will turn into a noisy, grainy stock in the final color." This all seems like craziness! I need to watch more bones with this in mind. Apparently Desperate Housewife's shoots the same stock but i think they rate it at 500ASA. Whats the deal here? Why isn't more TV shooting on it if all this is true? Nathan
  14. Does anyone remember which issue of American Cinematographer that covered Goodnight & Goodluck? Or does anyone remember what stock they shot it on or any special processes? I remember it was color stock but thats about it. Nathan
  15. Okay I feel like a fool. It took me all of 2 minutes to figure this out after I posted on this forum. The answer is here: http://www.pstechnik.de/en/35-bl-evolution-body-movement.php The camera will take 20 to 28 Volts. Sorry to clutter up the forum. Nathan
  16. I am working for a school that recently inherited a Arri BLIII Evolution with P+S Techniks modifications. We received the body and some support but no batteries. We have several 28 volt batteries and I know the camera takes 24 volts. AC-ing in the past I recall having to use a power adapter to deal with some voltage variations on BL's (I think) I have rented before. Can anyone refresh my memory on this? Do I need to get a adapter so as not to slowly burn out the electronics? I am not the greatest when it comes to voltage and battery issues. Thanks Nathan
  17. Thanks for all the help. In the next day or so i will post more test. Nathan
  18. Okay, so I have captured the footage and it does not nearly look as bad on proper monitors as it did when we shot it. but there is definitely a shift of some kind. Here is a link to a small sample. Sorry i did not hold the shot longer i need to shoot another test ASAP. http://www.fridayfeature.com/adeltest.mov I slowed the shot down to 25%, note the color of her skin tone right after the initial zoom in. It gains color zoomed in and looses it zoomed out. according to the waveform monitor the red channel raises about 8% after the snap in. Its almost like some electronics are adjusting but I don't know what. Please help! NOTE: I forgot to render fast start, its an 8meg file, give it a sec it will load.
  19. Saturday I was shooting a few camera tests for a short I am shooting starting this weekend. We are using a F900 with a Canon HD 4.5mm to 55mm zoom. I mostly have shot film before and have been working hard to understand the depths of the various menus and options on this camera. Right at the end of the day I was zoomed in extremely close on our actress and did a quick snap back to wide. In the zoom her skin tone went green! I could hardly believe it, so I did it a few more times with the same results. Thinking it might have been a issue with my HD monitor (Panasonic 1080p) I recorded it to play back. Sure enough it was recorded, a green face! (Note: We were only using tungsten lighting) After this I was frightened and tried to repeat this occurrence but it did not do it as badly the second time. Thinking it might be some automatic function I did not know about on the camera I tried whip panning in and out of light to see if it would do anything weird. Nothing happened. Later today I will capture the footage and look at it closely on a Waveform and Vectorscope. I will try to upload a QT file of the zoom. But until then what could the issue be? Note: There are not going to be any snap zooms or anything close on this film, but I still need to know why it happened so I don't miss it if it happens any other time, since i will be operating with the B&W viewfinder.
  20. Thanks for the interest. But all three rolls have been sold. Nathan
  21. Flying Spot in Seattle does superb work. www.fsft.com
  22. I have one roll of Kodak Vision2 500T 7218 that has been re-canned. It was from a commercial that I shot October of 2006. I re-canned it myself and it has been temperature and humidity controlled since then. $80 obo I have two rolls of Fuji Eterna 500T 8673, both are factory sealed and have been in a dedicated film freezer since July of 2006. $80 each obo I am shooting my next spot on 35mm and am selling this to offset that shoot. Let me know if you would like more information including the full emulsion numbers. All film was obtained new from Kodak and Fuji by me... in other words I have been its only owner. Nathan
  23. A friend of mine is trying to buy her husband a directors viewfinder for Christmas. She has about $300. Any recommendations. Both 35mm 16mm and video needs. Specific models or brands to avoid would be nice as well. Thanks in advance. Nathan
