  3. Here is a Music Video we handled the processing scanning and final color. Directed by Alex Perry total footage shot 3200 feet of Super 16mm the band was ecstatic shooting on film, and it ended up costing less than their than their digital Alexa shoots. http://vevo.ly/30dcKL
  4. Yes and they are installing 65mm processing also.
  5. The lasergraphics director uses a monochrome sensor with RGB light source so in the HDR mode each frame is flashed either 6x or 9x and it combines the data in the raw output. The Director however is not capable scanning 8mm film, 8mm is only available on the Scan Station which does not have hdr capabilities.
  6. lots of 35mm film collectors on the 35mm forum http://www.35mmforum.com/forums/forum/1-features-and-general-forum/

  14. For those of you who missed the news at the BSC show last week there was an "unofficial" announcement from Kodak UK about a new Production package that is now available. if you've got a project with a budget up to 10mil UK sterling you can now avail of Kodaks Independent Prodcution Package. By calling kodak UK you can get a single competitive price for stock/processing/2 camera package/telecine. All the major UK camera rental companies are supporting this, as are both film processing labs (idailies and Cinelabs). With that single phone call kodak can slide the shooting ratio to fit whatever your budget is, effectively matching the costs of shooting arriraw/red dragon etc. the only thing that changes is the shooting ratio. So now in theory if producer had a budget of say 100k for camera/data processing for a 10week shoot, then Kodak can now equate that to a film equivalent shooting ratio. Its being trialed in the UK and if it's a success here it will be rolled out in other countries. Expect an "official" announcement in the coming weeks but this is in effect right now, so if you have a feature on the cards in the UK it's worth a phone call to Sam to see what shooting ratio you'd get for your money. It's taken a lot of hard work on the part of Kodak, Panavision, Arri, Cinelabs, IDailies and several members of the BSC to make this happen but we think this is a very positive step forward and hopefully one that will be embraced by producers and directors. Keep your eyes peeled for the official announcement and in the meantime call Sam at Kodak for more details.
  15. I know other facilities that use the oxberry transports on DIY scanners and I know they run at least 16 fps.
  16. This is Truly Sad News, Film lab NY is the last lab on the east coast the Studio Pictures would go to if they are shooting on film. Last Week 2 major motion pictures shot on the east coast just wrapped The Cohen Brothers 'St James Place' and "Louder Than Bombs" Starring Jesse Eisenberg both done at NY Lab. Sadly With Film Lab NY out of the equation even the filmmakers who want to shoot film will most likely be forced to shoot digital.
  17. Hello Carl Your comment is a matter of your opinion and that is fine, the people that did Curfew were more than aware of all of the options of adding grain digitally (which at this point there are many) and none of them had the same effect of this film out work flow. We are about to do a film out test on a very big budget movie the dp and the director have tried adding grain via their post house and are till not satisfied with the final look. This DP did a Coke campaign were they did this work flow and it could be duplicated via digital only. Is this silly as you say, maybe,I think it is more about creating different artistic looks to a final piece.
  18. Hello Cody Back in 2011 we did just the work flow you are describing for a short film called 'Curfew' It was shot on Red and we recorder out a 35mm negative to camera film stock 5213. Here is a Webinar that explains how it was done. http://vimeo.com/35973323
  19. Hello Cody back in 2011 we did just that for a short film called "Curfew"
  20. Shooting stills on Motion Picture Negative was very popular through the 80's and 90's. There was a company called Seattle Film Works that would package Negative Motion Picture Film Stocks into 35mm Camera Canisters. Because it was motion Picture stock you had to send the rolls back to them for processing, the film had to go through a ECN Bath due to the fact that the film had backing.
