  1. I have to answer this a lot: TECHNISCOPE IS ALIVE AND VERY WELL IN NEW ENGLAND AT EDGEWOOD STUDIOS. WWW.EDGEWOODSTUDIOS.COM Our equipment and info on the format is on the site if you click on "Production Facilities". We have a converted Cinema Products XR-35 with Video Tap and a ARRI 2C/T That has the lens centered for Vistascope (so you can get that extra area from the sound track if you want. We also have the 2C in a Lightweight Cine 60 Blimp. We have had great luck with the format but I willl tell you that we only rent out to others if our AC's go with the equipment. (Sorry, but too many horror stories with inexperienced filmmakers) Check it out or e-mail me with questions at david@edgewoodstudios.com or (802) 773-0510 We have been around since 1987 by zigging when everyone else zags - it is a riot! Be well all -David Giancola
  2. John, So what would be your very, very best price on this stock? Call me next week or e-mail me at david@edgewoodstudios.com -David Giancola 802-773-0510 www.edgewoodstudios.com
  3. REPLY TO KEVIN JACKMAN'S QUESTION - (Sorry I had to do it here as the site is telling me your mailbox is full) Kevin, Man, I gotta sell but I guess if you are talking just the camera and all accessories, mags, matte box, vid tap, rods, extra parts, etc. and not the anything from the bottom of the camera down (support) or lens, then I am thinking 12K for the camera- but am open to offers and as I have done before, payment plans. The camera can vari-speed as well as run at 24FPS sync - I am sure a tech like Tobin or TCS can set you up with the exact frame rate you need easily. Thanks ! -David Giancola 802-236-7695 dave@edgewoodstudios.com

  9. Well, yes but they were ultimately a profitable investment for me. Also at the time I owned them there were many owners who worked together to re-do the electronics and such and a tech who dedicated himself to the cameras. I still think they are a good one-owner camera, but they have made me a big fan of SIMPLICITY in electronics in cameras. Funny story; I had a gig for hire where they wouldn't let us use the Ultracams as they got blamed for EVERYTHING that went wrong in the camera department even if it wasn't their fault. (Labs and humans NEVER make mistakes-right?) So here I am working with an Arri 35BL3 Rental from a very reliable rental house - and it has a major breakdown with it's shutter and we lose half a days work! I had to pull out the Ultracams to save the rest of the day.... All equipment breaks down sometimes - except it seems, my Arri 2C, which is a very simple camera. I really would of like to have seen what would have happened if the Loenetti's got to another generation with those cameras. Stephen, The gates for all our cameras were "Optimized" for FUJI stock, I think you can adjust the gate to tighter tolerances for Kodak. We were having the Fuji stock shaved off at the sides as the tolerances were not as fine as Kodak (hence the rubies in the gate) and Dennis Steinhaier, our tech said the cameras had to be adjusted for each stock - not sure how to do that though. Good Luck. -Dave
  10. Hello- so great to see so many friends I have talked with in the past on this site - I love it. We at Edgewood are embracing 2-Perf in a big way. In the past, we have spent a mint on (2) Super 16mm CP-16R Cameras over the years and had many successful features (all for sale if anyone is interested lenses, follow-focus, video tape, etc. all immaculate call (802) 773-0510) and had great success (seven feature films - check out our website www.edgewoodstudios.com) While we are losing speed and flexibility, Techniscope makes sense as our budgets have gone up. We have a Arri 2C/T in a lightweight Cine 60 Blimp adapted for our Canon Speed Primes, we also have a Cooke zoom, and the standard Angenieux 25-250, all BNCR and a rare Cinema Products XR-35 Studio Camera professionally converted which is being finished with a new ground glass. I have spent years collecting and researching this format and, I may be crazy but I think it is perfect for my company at this time and maybe others. If you go to our site and get to the camera section there is a comparison of all the formats (double-checked at the Panavision site) and they speak for themselves. Our ground glasses are set for scope with a 16x9 safe zone. I know, why the XR-35? I have heard too many horror stories and owned a couple of Russian cameras with sad results. I wish I had met Ed DeGulio (who recently passed away) of Cinema Products as I am a big fan. Our Super16mm CP's ran great in ANY environmental conditions and have excellent and very simple electronics. The XR has tested the same so far and has the "heart" of a Mitchell anyways. While I will gladly rent this equipment out for someone else's feature, I need to have one of my AC's go with the stuff as it's condition is very important to the studio. Plus, it's worth it to have someone who knows the equipment anyways. More to come. GREAT SITE! -David Giancola dave@edgewoodstudios.com www.edgewoodstudios.com
