  1. Hello all, Hey, I found a deal at a flea market for an old Minolta XL-440 Sound Super 8 film camera. It only cost me $10 and it works perfect!! It didn't come with a manual. Is there anywhere I can find a manual for this camera, online PDF or ordering? Thank you for any and all help in advance. Regards, enobus5000
  2. Hello all: I just picked up a copy of Sony Vegas Video Movie Studio & DVD (Version 7.0 I believe). Is there anyone else here who has used this program for editing? I have used other video and audio editing software in the Vegas/Acid genre dating back to when they were still products of Sonic Foundry. My over all impression of this software is that it has improved on the basic editing functions from versions past as well as the transition effects and texting functions have somewhat changed for the better although they still use some of the effects from previous versions that have a lot to be desired (effects that are somewhat reminiscent of '80's TV studio post-production). The only other problem I might have with this software is that I can't migrate projects from previous versions of Vegas. Other than that, I believe it to be worth the money that I paid ($126 US) until I'm able to afford something better along the lines of Final Cut Pro. Has anyone else used the Vegas program? How does it compare to Adobe Premiere or After Effects or even Pinnacle software? Thanks for your input! David
  3. Hi all: I would like to set up my computer for video editing running Windows XP SP 2. I was previously suggested to create a new profile and disable any anti-virus software and disable my internet connection as well. Is there a way to set this up so that during start-up the anti-virus and internet connection will automatically be disabled? If so, can that be set up that way under the new profile only? Thanks for any and all help! David Chandler
  4. Hi all: I am wondering if anyone knows of a good place, besides Ebay, that sells used 16mm projectors for cheap? Is there any good web resources or used equipment dealers that I can find on the web? Thank you for any and all help. David
  5. Okay, here's a picture of my film box... http://www.439communications.com/kodak.jpg ...and here's a picture of my emulsion lense... http://www.439communications.com/emulsion.jpg What should be the proper setting on the emulsion lense? Thanks for the help guys! I appreciate the responses! David How about a Sekonic L-448? Is it pretty good? Thanks! David
  6. I have found out that light meters are rather expensive. Seeing as how I didn't really pay much for my film camera (found at an auction for $25), I don't think it would be worth it to pay for a new light meter. With that in mind, is there any substitute or way to Macgyver a light reading? I was tinkering around with my Digital camera today in the manual mode and I was able to change the f-stop and focal distance settings. I'm wondering if those settings could apply to what I could set on my 16mm cam? Thanks. David
  7. I have the equipment to do the transfer to DV, and I found a place to order film online, all I need now is a place to develop the film. Thanks. David
  8. Hi all! I just wanted to introduce myself and tell you why I have decided on subscribing to this forum. My name is David and I just recently decided to get more involved in video and film. I'm doing this more as a hobby and maybe as I do more with what I learn and what experience I gain from there I could go professional. I recently dug out my old film camera. I have had, for years now, an old Bell & Howell 240 camera. I WANT TO GET THIS THING UP AND RUNNING ONCE AND FOR ALL. Where can I find film? Could I find film in the Allentown, Pennsylvania area? What about processing? What's the best way to transfer film to DV? Where can I find a manual online for the B&H 240? What sort of accessories would be suggested to get with this sort of film camera? I know a light meter is a must! My main motive for video and film is for documenting purposes and for producing music videos for several local bands. I have several methods of editing video once I can get film dumped to DV format. Some software I use includes Vegas Video, iMovie, and QuickTime to name a few. Can anyone here tell me if they have had any experience with the above said camera? What are some of the pros and cons that you have come across? The DV camera I use is a Sony Handycam DCR-HC26. There are some very versatile functions on this cam. It's almost like having your own video studio. I really enjoy taking video with this cam. I'll have to post some videos on here in the near future. Thanks for any and all help! David
