haha no arduement. just dont want you to be misinformed. information is important, and it must be correct to be relevant. but on the contray, it looked a little TOOO contrasty to me, I agree with lighting with practicals, can be awesome. Im learning how hard it is to get a decent exposure just by using them tho. doing a lot of experimenting actually.

no no no, there were only sony vx models and a PD150 used for that film. no XL1S's. And about the lighting, well they only used available light, maybe ONE reflector horrible placed or something, and they let the camera run in automatic mode. thats why it looks like crap. I like the story tho, good flick once i got used to look at a horrid image on my screen. and the lead lady was GORGEOUS! she was really pretty.

even the unblown up stuff looked horrible, watch the deleted scenes on the dvd. and there is major artifacting going on with the edges from the 24p conversion. I think that they had a professional editor fix some things, because if you look at the deleted scenes, the edit style is a bit different and more amatuer.

Well put man. I agree. thats why I changed my profession thing to a 1st, because its what I know best and its what I'm refered to as most of the time. In the professional world, I am a First AC, in the non professional shoots I DP. non professional meaning like, low budget High school to College films. so I'm a first AC training and learning the awesome life of bein a DP. which I enjoy a good amount more than being a 1st AC. A xouple VX2100's and a PD150. It looked horrible!

I've pulled more shows than I've shot, and normally when I get called down for a Super16 or a 35 show, I come on as a First, so I would say at the moment that is my Primary job. But I am still at a very low level of experience and ability im sure as opposed to you Laurent.

Will do, thanks. The film was like, I dunno a friend of mine gave it to me OUT of his camera, it was aprtially loaded in his AE-1 and it was his camera that ripped some perfs. but You are right, the likelyness of the perfs being ripped in a consecutive manner is slim to none. i guess I'll just wait and see with this new roll, its 100 speed and its raining cats and dogs out here, everyonce in a while you'll even see some humans falling out of the clouds. not good weather. Must wait to shoot the rest of it when I get a little sun. Cuz I dont have the lights to do it at such slow speed. Im poor

NOBODY EVER BELIEVES ME! GOD! Yeah I get work on some pretty good shows sometimes, Not too much of it is paying, usually I get a Hotel, Gas expenses, and Food. End credit. Will have a feature credit as a First AC before I'm out of Highschool. I feel I'm really damned fortunate. :D

Yeah, I'd never seen it before. WHY ME WHY!!! um, yeah every single frame was like that actually. now keep in mind that some of the perferations were ripped. would that have any effect? No, Im shooting another test roll to see if the problem happenes again. Its a fresh roll this time.

I'm a DP groupie! haha that one was pretty funny. Im sittin here reading this and whoa, i think to myself, "Then what label do I get! I want a label too!" haha, labels...oh and only a bloody frenchman to meantion about those dumb teenage WANNA BE DP's, that hurts man, it really does :rolleyes: . So what, I'm 17, I do not go to school for what I loev doing, I dont plan on going either. Basically I'm just some child in love with the art of cinematography, in love with light and how it alters the mood of a person and the movie, I've done a lot of MINIDV (some of it I'm proud of, some I'm not) and a little 16mm, I have PA'd some shows, Gaffed some, Did playback on one, Pulled focus on a lot, and DP'd a lot. Some were DV, Some were 16mm, some were Super 16, and some were 35mm. But the ONE thing I know best is Pulling Focus...and My DP work is improving. The only reason I consider myself a DP as apposed to a first is because it is where my passion is, and most of my experience. It's my preference on any shoot. When someone in my area is looking for a DP, somehow they find me. (and my identity has been stolen twice because they knew my name... :ph34r: haha right) and If you would take some time out of you Hollywood hotshot lives, and come to the Highschool filmfest and see my work as opposed to everyone elses, You'll understand why continue to claim myself as a DP, because I love doing it and some say Im pretty good at it even for a 17 year old child. MERDE! and it goes without saying that I cant yet compare to a lot of you, but I have time to improve. I have time to get work. Just as much as I consider myself and American I consider myself a DP. It's where my heart stands. Stupid Children running around claim to be DP's! When will they learn? Since I'm not supposed to consider myself a DP I shall just become a groupie...hmm, Nancy Schreiber...hmmm she's not too bad. hmmm I'm sorry everybody. HAPPY NEW YEARS FROM THE CHILD!

hmm, COULD be the shutter, but my shutter speed was at about 1/30, but you never know, the lady at some photography store said it was a light leak, but I cant say I really buy the light leak thing because I have never dropped my camera, and this has never happened to a roll ive shot before, sort of liked this happened over night. Could it be possible that there is some scratching going on in the film can itself?

I was just playing with an old roll of 35mm (still photography) in my Canon Elan II, just for playing and experimenting purposes. some perferations were broken but I loaded it anyways. Shot the stuff, did the quick one hour photo thing. When I got the film back I noticed something rather odd. look at the pictures and decide for yourself. once you have looked at them PLEASE tell me what you think might have happened. keep in mind its still photography, Kind of looks like a light leak, but this has only happened on this roll. I've shot quite a few rolls trying to be a little more seriouse about my photography and never ran into this. It's like this happened over night so I'm wondering if it is in fact a light leak, or the film was just crap. Any responces are much appreciated. thank you Allen,

yeah 28 Days Later had the P+S Technik mount, with Zeiss primes. Thats why it looked so damn good, they didnt have a buttload of DOF, so that helped a lot, and the DP knew what he was doing, he did a great job as far as the film look goes. he understood DV has crap lattitude and worked with it.
