  1. The camera was probably switching off because the battery plate hasnt been upgraded. In the old ones the contact pins would bend after some use and not sit inside the battery holes properly resulting in the camera switching off whenever there was a bit of vibration or the battery touched.
  2. I shot a commercial last year with similar setup. I used a cooke 18-100 and found out it portholes a bit(at least in my camera) so we had to to some masking during colour. I would also avoid other lenses that are known to porthole(any of the 2.1 zeiss wides for example)
  3. I believe that half of the lcd's electronics are inside the red body so that would be impossible.
  4. Maybe its the OLPF sitting between the lens and the sensor reflecting the lower half, especially if the camera is not looking straight at the flames but is tilted up/down. Ive seen similar reflections(especially with the sun/lights being in the frame) and were always because of this.
  5. There is a free software for windows called r3d truncator, search in the workflow part of reduser. Its a wild idea, but try to truncate your r3ds in smaller files, maybe the problem is in the beginning or end of the file.
