  2. The lenses ask of service and collimating. About jammed aperture control, i worry, need repair a aperture control mechnaism. Any case, all this possible. Will need know a version of lens mount adapter too. A some versions of OST-18 adapters have a some technical details. As of external view of lens mount adapter, the adapter with slide control focus pin inside. This is adapter have black jam screw at top, need unscrew of this jam screw on a few turns, attach a lens and fix a lens inside lens mount by this screw. All questions by PM olex.camera@gmail.com

  5. Russian 16 mm cine camera Kiev-Alpha have semi-transparent mirror on light channel. This is semi-transparent mirror to divide light from lens to ground glass of viewfinder and to film ( by shitter disk ) at one time. You ask correct question. If you will use a external light meter, you need take into account light-transmission factor by semi-transparent mirror. The origial user manual, on page 14, told. "At determination of value of the lens's aperture by means of external manual exposure meter, necessary to consider sensitivity a film in two times less, because, the semi-transparent mirror double reduces light flow..." If you will use film with speed 250 ASA, you need set 125 ASA speed on light meter. And, you must be careful at setup a wide angle lenses with C-mount to camera. The semi-transparent mirror set limitation at distance between film to rear parts of lens. If the lens will have too big rear parts, you can destroy a semi-transparent mirror.
  6. You need diassemble a main cog's wheel. I think, you jammed cog's wheel. or You assemble wrongly. You can buy new body or send me for repair. More detailed questions can be by PM.
  7. Do not need mix of amateur photo lenses like Jupiter 12 of 35mm rangefinder photo cameras FED/Zorki/Kiev with LOMO professional cinema lenses. LOMO had a few versions of 35 mm lenses: OKS-1-35-1 OKS-2-35-1 OKS-6-35-1 OKS-11-35-1 OKS-15-35-1 OKS-16-35-1 And every of this lens had original optical scheme. For example, OKS-11-35-1 have 5 optical componnets with one agglutinate block. OKS-15-35-1 have 8 optical componnets with two agglutinate blocks.

  9. You mean original battery of Kinor-16 SX-2M camera with metal case , power socket and power switch at top ? This is russian silver-zinc 5Ah cells - 8 pcs, the total voltage - 12 v. May be you have upgraded version. The original version of 29EPSS motor have electronic with do not high voltage reserve ( russian transistors MP-16, MP-25), that's why, i do not recommend to connect 18 v battery. The original user manual of 29EPSS motor told about battery with 12v + 2,5 / - 1.2v. As of my practical experience, Kinor-16 can be use with any power battery 1.5Ah, 4ah, 7 ah. The 7ah battery can run of Kinor with 120 m film magazines of all 8 hours shooting day. i have one spare 7 ah battery, but, this is low-activity spare battery. 4ah battery will need 2..3 pcs at set. But, if the weight and size of battery impornatn for you, you can use modern small size batteries with 1.5..2 ah power. From other side, the original edition of 29EPSS motor have one speed 25 fps only and have analog system of speed stabilization with 2.5% precision. If you visit to my site, you can find many versions of upgraded 29EPSS motor to crystal sync speed with digital film counter, remote control, digital voltmeter of battery. The upgrade 29EPSS motor to time lapse version possible too. The upgraded version of motor have high voltage reserve and can use any batteries up to 24 v, to have " no synch " led and sound alarm and will give you high quality footages.   10. I worry, you can have problem to find of any second hand cine camera shop. The better way to find private advertisemen at regional buy-sell newspapers. Or ask of guys from pro-photo camera shops. I'm from Ukraine.
  11. To check battery holder, canbe lost or broken contacts ( rare device separately ). To check condition of electronic, can have oxidize contacts at switches. If you will have questions, can ask me, i have a few Quarz-XL at spare parts sets.
  12. 17EP-16 APk motor of Konvas-1M/2M camera - crystal sync speed motor compatible with 12 v batteries with speeds up to 32 fps and 18 v battery with speeds up to 60 fps ( upgraded version ). The original battery socket have 4 pin style ( two pins (+) and two pins (-)). The original version of 17EP-16 APK motor electronic do not have free surface inside for installation of 4 pin XLR socket. You can build of special power cord with orignal ( russian ) plug from one side ( motor side ) and 4 pin XLR plug from other side. BUT, YOU MUST BE CAUTIOUS WITH POLARITY OF BATTERY. If you connect battery with reversal polarity, the electronic will burn down. If you do not know, what need connect batetry, ask me. The 4 pin XLR socket can be install to original version of 17EP-16 APK motor by special body adapter. The upgraded version of modern crystal sync speed micropocessor controller have small size and 4 pin XLR socket can be install to body without any additinal parts. About power unit of 15EPSS motor. Yes, You need 6 v 10 ah SLA battery. This is battery install inside power unit easy. But, I must underline, 6 v battery with original version of 15EPSS power unit electronic give you speed up to 16 fps with good stabilization and 24 fps with very small spare power for stabilization. That's why, i propose of upgrade of original electronic of 15EPSS motor and motor will have all speeds , up to 32 fps, with high power stabilization.
  13. Are the slightly out of sync too much ? This is very important for you ? The nonregistration at horizontal or vertical level ? The ground glass of Konvas-1M, 2M made at one surface of angle prism. This is prism set inside prism house. The prism house jam on plate of mechanism by two pins and two screws. The prism house position adjust on factory and do not adjustable at time of use. But, the position of prism with ground glass can be adjust inside prism house by adjustable sheet layers. The camera technician must have special standard film gate with scale and measuring microscope. I think, you must worry about flange focal distance adjusting and correct adjusting of shutter disk, because, this is influence on quality of footages directly. Can send me questions by PM

  15. P.S. 16/35x100 PRO tanks do not made at LOMO. This is product of "Karacharovskiy ( USSR ) factory of plastic devices". LOMO made of UPB-1, UPB-1A ( 16/35x50 ft ) tanks.
  16. I had project to upgrade of 15EPSS motor to crystal sync speed version. We had two crystal sync speed version and multi crystal speed version. But, all this versions of 15EPSS motor ask of 24 v battery. From other side, this is complex upgrade to ask of additional devices ( optical feed back sensor) and do not cheap. As of my opinion, if you have 15EPSS motor, this is motor need upgrade to 6 v battery version and use with original analog system of speed stabilization. The original analog speed stabilization have good value of speed control +/- 2,5 % at speed 24 fps. If you need crystal sync speed, i recommed to change motor on 17EP-16 APK, 19EP-16 APK with 12 v battery. Question: =Yes I found the motor you linked, I was considering buying it. The camera is great but the motor is becoming a pain. = I'm really wanting to shoot some test film but at the moment it's just sitting there. Answer: As for my opinion, this is do not best decision. 25M-8M motor will run, but, with manual speed setting and without any speed stabilization. You will have "headache" with speed adjusting. Konvas-1M/2M cameras do not have mechanical speed control device - main device of speed stabilization system with 25M-8M motor. I prefer : repair and upgrade of original power unit of 15EPSS motor. If you do not have orignal power unit of 15EPSS motor, to buy power unit separately. This is possible. or to buy Konvas motor with crystal sync speed ( 17EP-16 APK, 19EP-16 APK . Any case, you can choose of a any decision.
  17. If you attach lighting dimmer switch, you will have a motor with manual speed control, but, without system of speed stabilization. At full film roll, you will have one speed, at minimum film roll, you will have other speed. The difference speed of shooting give you difference density on footage. The takes at full roll will do not compatible ( density) with takes at end of roll. You lost many money at bad quality of takes. Do not need contrive a bike. The modern requests at film making ask of cine cameras with stabilized motors. ==== Question. =Does the Konvas 25M-8M rheostat-based motor require the battery box or can it be connected direct to a battery? Answer: 25M-8M Rheostat motor of Konvas - 1, KSR-1, KSR-1M cameras require 6..8v battery with any polarity connected. Do not need any electronic speed control unit. The speed of motor can be adjust by change a position of rheostat. From other side, Konvas-1 camera have mechanical device of speed control. Question : = However it won't work with a 2m, only the really early Konvai that can be handcranked work with that. =Easiest would be to get a 12volt crystal motor. They can be really hard to find tho. = The big problem with Konvai is always the motor/electronics. The cameras themselves are fantastic = but the motor situation tends to be painful. Will need divide Konvas-1 ( KSR-1 KSR-1M ) cameras and Konvas-1M/2M cameras. This is cameras with two difference type of claw mechanism and difference style of motor couples. That's why, the motors of Konvas-1 do not compatiblme ( without upgrade ) with Konvas-1M/2M cameras and electrical motors with analog or crystal sync speed stabilization do not compatible with Konvas-1 cameras without upgrade too. As for me, Konvas cameras have very good electrical motors with analog stabilization (15EPSS) and crystal sync speed ( 17EP-16 APK, 18EP-16 APK, 19EP-16 APK, 5BDS ). But, this is rheostat control motor without any system of automatical speed stabilization. Konvas-1M/2M cameras have many original motors with speed stabilization. You need outmoded facilities ? The main merit of this motor- absence any electronic devices. From tehcnical side, motor mount do not correct and do not have special jam slides. As for me, prefer to use original motors of Konvas-1M/2M.

This is motor included : motor module ( handle with two DC motors , one taxo inside , start-stop switch, power cord), power unit module with battery and electronic module of speed control inside. You can see many technical information about 15EPSS motor on my site, detailed description and recommendation about upgrade. 15EPSS motor created for silver-zinc cell ( 7.5-8,2 v ). This is expensive type of battery and do not manufacturing now. You cab attach of a other cheap batteries and use camera with this motor for real shooting. DO NOT CONNECT 12 V battery, you can destroy electronic parts after a short time running. 6 v battery can run motor, but, at speeds less of 24 fps with low power reserve. I recommend, and can upgrade a power unit electronic for 6 v 10 ah battery. 6v 10ah battery can be install inside power unit and motor will work fine after upgrade at all speeds.   20. LOMO OKS-11-50-1 50 mm F 1,2 at Kinor-35H edition of body have outside lever for focusing parts. And the rear side of glass have big diameter. The focusing lever can give you disturb. I think, you need find a other version of body with similar lens block. I know version of 35OKS-11-50-1 " Kinooptika" with small size lens back. This is lens can have Arri PL mount version. The similar story can be with OKS-14-75-1 75 mm F1,4. The version of OKS-14-75-1 with upgraded lens mount to Arri Pl have small size of lens back.
  21. You mean special front optical attachment for dual planes shooting ?( Trick effects ). The russian name of set 20C-37 included 5 pcs diopters for distances 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, 1.0 m. This is diopters use for russian anamorphic lenses 35 NAS-4,( 50 mm, 75 mm ) and 35NAS-10 ( 35 mm )but, can be use with any other optical system. This is hald of spherical glass ( diopters), inside special holder. The Roundfront anamorphic´s 35mm, 50mm and 75mm don't have front thread. You can attach of front attachment over of a outside diameter of front part of lens. The outside diameter of front side of Roundfront anamorphic´s 35BAS 27-1 35 mm - 140 mm 35BAS 22-1 50 mm -105 mm 35BAS 23-1 75 mm- 105 mm
  22. 35 BAS LOMO anamorphic Square front 50 mm and 80 mm lenses had original diopters ( front attachment ) for shooting with short distance. This was square body with glass inside, install to front side of len's body. If you see of your lens, you can see a few distance scales on focus ring. The one, white digitals - distances without front attachment, minimum distance of focusing 1,5m The second, green digitals - with front attachment( marking 1.0m) with minimum distance of focusing 1.0m The third scale with red digitals - with front attachment ( marking 0.5m ) and minimum distance of focusing 0,5m. About 35 BAS LOMO anamorphic lenses with round front glass, sorry, i don't know original diopters. But, a few years ago, we had special front attachment on 150 mm 35 BAS-2-2 lens and shoot with minimum distance 0,15m. I think, you can use any other brand name diopters with similar diameter.
  23. Do not need chase on collection lenses. This is lenses have super high value, because, this is antique lenses. From optical side, the similar picture result will show you a lenses with less price $10..$50....
