=I've just resently got a Kinor 16 24p crystal synch package. Kinor-16 SX-2M camera can have a few electrical motors, This can be 29EPSS motor with analog system of speed control and one speed 25 fps, 10EP-16 APK motor with crystal sync speed control and one speed 25 fps or 24 fps or AC motor 10EPS. 29EPSS motor can be modify on multispeed or crystal sync multispeed versions. = I'm wondering if it is easy to modify to super16 The modification on professional Super 16 film format cannot be easy. But, you need think, what lenses you will use. The zoom lens of Kinor-16 camera not cover Super 16 size on all range of zoom. = Is it too noisy to shoot synch sound without a blimp? Kinor-16 SX-2M camera, serviced, with good condition have noisy near 42 Db. Kinor-16 camera design for shooting of footages with sinch sound recoding and have Pilot-Signal system. But, to use of additional sound blimp will not bad idea. =I was a bit disapointed with my Konvas 1m lens, I think, the your problem not on quality of Konvas lenses, your camera and lenses can have bad service, or bad adjust, or position of ground glass adjust not correct. The many famous Russian films made with Konvas cameras and you can see quality of image.

=I bought a Konvas on Ebay. I have tested the camera and everything seems to work fine. Does anybody =know what points inside need oil or grease? as I don't want to seize the camera on the first shoot! After long time storage of Konvas need make full service with detailed inspection and adjusting of mechanical and optical parts. Because, the old oil can dry up and need wash. Will need inspect of every magazine too ,because, the mechanism of magazines give load on base mechanism of body. Yes,of course, you can make easy oiling of mechanism and this can help on short time. The base points of re - lube of lubricating liquid ( 2-3 drops )- central hole on axis of mirror disk, and parts of frame of transport pin. You can do this procedure without take away front part of body. Will need set oil on post of frame of transport pin too, but, you can do this with take away front part of body. If you take away front part of body, you will need to check of flange focal distance of body. The service of ball bearing of magazines possible with disassembling parts of magazine only. The service of base reducer of motor possible with disassembling of motor only too.

Hi =I need a fairly wide angle lens for a project using a K3, maybe something inbetween a 9.5 and 12mm - =fairly fast (2.8 minimum say). At first, you need answer, what lens mount have your K-3. If your K-3 have bayonet mount, you can use 12.5 mm lens or modifed professional zoom lens 10-100 mm with front wide adapter 0.75. You will have zoom lens 7.5-75 mm. From other side, you will have zoom lens with real profesisonal quality. If you have K-3 with M42 screw mount, you can use Peleng 8 mm , but, you will have distortion, or any other photo lens. But, super wide photo lenses will have big price. Olexandr.

HI =Yes a Bolex can be better than K3 I not confirm of your idea. What Bolex you mean ? You wish compare professional cine camera Bolex and amateur cine camera Kransogorsk-3. This is cameras from differene levels. If you wish compare Bolex with some russian 16 mm cine camera, i propose compare with Kinor-16 E ( 4kSR ) camera. I think, will need compate cameras with some price. What Bolex camera have price $170... 200 ? =A Bolex Rex4 or Rex5 are definitely better than a K3 =They are precision built they allow you install a 400' mag =And have C-mount which can take huge list of lenses that the K3 doesn't have Ok. If you wish use 400 ft magazines, you can choose russian Kinor-16 SX-2M camera. The bast sides of K-3 camera - simplicity, reliability, small size, small weight, not need battery, will work with any condition with low temperature and with high temperature. If i will need choose camera for long time expedition, i will choose K-3, because, this camera will shot at any condition. This is my personal opinion, base on my personal experience.

HI =I picked up four rolls of it, and have one in my cam at the moment. The ones I got expired in 1992, This is Svema B&W reversal OCHE-50 , Super 8 film in cartridge. This is film from old stock, but can be use for shooting. I make a few experiments and have not bad result. I use speed of 8-12 ASA and doubled time of first B&W developer. The cartridge have DX code of speed and type of film, if need, i can check DX code detailed. I have chemistry for process of Svema film and can explain procedure processing.

Hi =Hi guys. I just bought a battery for my Konvas 7-m and tried to run it. (I had never run the camera =before) I used a Bescor 12v 7amp battery with a 4 pin XLR. The motor does run. But it runs very slowly, =not even 1 frame per second i would say. If you have problem with camera, you can ask me detailed. I'm camera mechanic repair of Konvas,Kinor cameras. The first questin, What motor have your Konvas camera ? This si 17EP-16 APk or 15EPSS or any other ? The next test. You need disconnect motor from camera and run motor separately. Cam be problem with camera, motor, power cord, battery and more other. From my experience, all Konvas cameras need service and re-lube. I use my Konvas-2M camera with 17EP-16 APK motor with 12v 7 ah battery and battery work very good.

=Thinking about grabbing a Konvas to play around with, B-roll, music video work. But as I checked out a =nice package to buy, a big concern I had was - there are no rods, base plate, or gears on lenses. I use Konvas-2M camera with base plate with rods from Kinor-35 H camera set, follow focus from Kinor-35H camera set and universla lens hood from Kinor-35 H camera set too. Frankly speaking, i can use follow focus with zoom lenses, anamoprhic leses, because, the lens must have a some distance between body and focus gear. Hi =I am thinking of buying a Konvas 2M or a modified 8M. Both have PL mounts installed and are supposed =to be well maintained but what I'm worried about is where can I get these maintained in Canada? The procedure of setting of PL mount must make with special tools, because, will need re-centering of lens mount and adjust of flange focal distance. From other side, will need experience do this. Hi The electrical motor 29EPSS of Kinor 16 camera can be adjust for sped 24 fps very easy. Will need adjust of variable resistor on seed control. This is resistor can control from outside. The motor can be modifed on multi speed vetsion with speed from 12 fps up to 50 fps. The hand control of speed possible too. The recording of sync sound possible with Kinor camera too. If we told about Eclair ACL-1.5 or ACL-2.0 good camera, but, Angenuex lens not good choose, the good zoom lenses with CA mount Canon 12-120 mm and Scheider 10-100 mm ( modifed ). The many russian long prime anamoprhic lenses have two versions spherical and anamoprhic. they take spherical lens and add rear anamoprhic adapter and have anamoprhic lens. From other side, this idea work good with tele lenses and some zoom lenses, the wide lenses use front anamorphic adapters, because, the distence between rear glass and mirror inside camera very short for wide lenses and set rear anamoprhic adapter not possible. And, the front anamorphic adapter widen of angle of lens. I make a some experimens with front anamoprhic adapter and zoom lens of Krasnogorsk-3 camera, have good result. But, from my expience, the better use full factory made anamorphic prime or zoom lens.

I was using Konvas and Lomo anamorphics a lot. It's a nice tool, however I must warn you that they can turn your shoot into nightmare, as well. There are two important things: Lomo lenses are rated 1,4 (!) but never go below 5,6! Otherwise forget sharpness. Loading a mag is very tricky and tiny mistake will result having a "stock salad" in your camera. I wish not confirm this idea. Any cine camera and lense need adjust and test. The secial theme- adjusting of anamoprhic lens. teh anamoprhic lens high precision optical and mechanical parts of two opticalsystem :spherical and anamoprhic compoennets and this systems must be adjust separately and in common. If you have not sharpness on open aperture, need check flange focal distannce of camera and lens and checl adjust of components of lens. I repair many anamoprhic lenses and can send images from lens with open aperture. this images have good sharpness because lenses adjusted. The any russian crew at time of USSR included camera mechanic and optical mechanic. About loading a magazines, the Konvas camera have great design of magazine and magazine will fork very good and you will not have " stock salad" if : -the camera serviced adjusted - the magazine serviced, adjusted - the film load on magazine correct - the magazine set on camera correct too. This is very easy procedure and Konvas can forgive many, but, any equipments wish correct use.

Hi. Konvas-1 , 1KSR camera can use 400 ft film magazines. Yes, this camera have some gears from textolite, but, this wirk good. The need know , what position of magazine lock have your camera, top or side. A some gears can be replace on steel. We can discuss about this detailed, but, need see your camera inside.

=Second, the 1M cannot use 400 ft. mags, only 200 ft ones, which DO NOT allow the use of 200 foot loads. =If you use a full 200 ft load, the film stock will rub against itself due to the slightly smaller magazine size =(kind of a poorly thought out idea if you ask me.) This is mistakenly. I think, you mix old version of Konvas-1 ( 1KSR ) camera with magazine lock from top. Yes, the 200 ft and 400 ft magazines from Konvas-1 with magazine lock from top not compatible with other version of Konvas 1, Konvas-1M, Konvas-2M cameras with magazine lock from left side. That's why, 1M, Konvas-1M ( 1KSR-1M ) camera can use 200 ft andf 400 ft filmmagazines without problem. But, i must underline. The last edition of Konvas-2M cameras had new version of gear between magazine and camera. This is single-helical gearing. That's why, the film magazine have single-helical gearing too. This is rare edition of camera and magazines, any case, this need check too. The standard edition of Konvas-1, Konvas-1M, Konvas-2M cameras and magazines have spurs. =Third, the 1M cannot use the 17ep(?) crystal motor unlike the 2M. This is not correct idea too. I think, you can mean Konvas-1 ( 1 KSR ) camera or very rare version of Konvas-1M (1KSR-1M ) cameras with special motor mount and connector ob base axis. If we told about standard Konvas-1M ( 1KSR-1M ) camera you can connect 17EP-16APK motor or any other motors without problem. =And last, know that the magazines for these cameras can be very tricky to load, definitely harder than an =arriflex displacement mag. I not confirm this idea too. The Konvas magazines have very easy systemof loading, I think, you know not all details of film loading. If the magazine have good technical codition you will load film into magazine with closed eyes. Hi. Konvas-1, Konvas-1M, Konvas-2M cameras not need modifed for use of Kodak negative film with BH perforation . Konvas cameras have transport mehcnaism with one transport pin only and profile of transport pin comraible for with with BH and KS perforation. That's why, you can use Kodak negative film with Koncas cameras without any problem. I can confirm this from practical side, because, i use my Konvas camera with Kodak film.

Hi About lens mounts. OST-18 not correct name of russian lens mount. I think, you mean the lens mount of 1KSR ( Konvas-1) , 1KSR-1M ( Konvas-1M ) cameras. The russian original drafts have name : " Lens mount 1KCP-00". 1KSR, 1KSR-1M cameras have lens mount with diameter 47 mm ( -0.01...0.027mm for lens side ) and flange focal distance 57mm +/- 0.01 mm. The users ouset her name of russian lens mount OST-19 ( OCT-19), this is not name of lens mount too, this is name of technical rule ( russian product standard ) with full name OCT-19-144. This is rule included description of lens mount of russian cameras. But, the many peoples call lens mount of Konvas-2M ( 1KSR-2M ) Kinor-35S, Kinor-35H cameras - OST-19 lens mount.
