  1. Thanks, And what is your expirience with DETAIL CORING. It should reduce noise when set to +, but can it somehow result some unwanted efects after transfer? N.
  2. Hello everyone, Does anyone have sugestion about VERTICAL DETAIL and DETAIL CORING setting for film transfer!!! I already shoot on 100A for film, and used DETAIL LEVEL -4 and VERTICAL THIN, and was wery pleased with the result. 100 B has aditional detail setting (beside DEATAIL LEVEL and THIN, MID. THICK setting) and I am wondering what to do with them?! My goal is to achieve best possible information for transfer, so I need to reduce in-camera processing as much as I can. Maybe I can leave them 0 (unchanged) Please help. Nemanja
  3. Thanks Mr. Mullen. Whole shutter speed/frame rate thing is now clear to me. Maybe I can use SYNCHRO SCAN (AG DVX100A) option, and set shutter speed to 1/40 s or so...just to maintain close continuity of motion blur with sceens shoot using 1/50 s? Oh and one more thing. While I am in DESIRED range (not shorter exposure than fiming rate!), decimal shutter values ex. 1/40.3 s would not act diferently than round values ex. 1/40 s ???? I am bothered whit this because of potential flicker problems with older computer monitors. Thanks very much. regards, Nemanja Jovanov
  4. I we used settings similar to Daniel (previous post), and extend image control during post (if you capture material over SDI in uncompressed 10bit, you can achieve very good control, having in mind that you are shooting on DV 25Mb). Shooting a feature I followed approach that f-stop (exposure) is used to control highlights (not to lose them), and in camera settings to control blacks. Try experimenting with diferent gamma settings. CINE GAMA_D will give you more dynamic range in black and CINE GAMA_V will shorten the range. If You cimbine this with M.PED level you can manage to control blacks very precisely. In some point I streched blacks (with pedestal), managing to define wery nice scale in darks. Later in post you can precisely define what is black and what is near to black and with some details. Experiments with waveform monitor, and lab (if you are shooting for film) are very good thing, and can give you good idea what to set on camera and what to leave for post. Regards, Nemanja N. Jovanov
  5. Hi everyone, During 2005/06 i shoot a feature with AG DVX100A, and printed it on ARRILASER and I was very pleased with the results. Following advices on camera settings (for transfer to film) I set shutter speed to default 25p 1/50s (I am in PAL zone). Didnt had a chance to change shutter speed (cause I didnt have problems with CRT monitors ect) Now I am in preps for a new feature, also planing to shoot with this camera. Film is a false documentary and will eventualy requre diferent camera style (hadheld, fast movement, narrow FOV ect.). Also there is a scene with standard CRT computer monitors with wich I am anticipating flicker problems. I know that camera has CLEAR SYNC shutter mode, but I am wondering will there be any undesired effects during transfer? Also, in favour of camera style, I am thinking of using slower shutter speed (1/25s) in some scenes, for more motion blur and ?softer? movement, and also to avoid STROBE effect! If anyone have some expirience with results during FILM PRINT, and with diferent shutter speeds, any advice would help. Thanks,
