  1. Hello all... I have a small amount of 16mm film (about 300 to 500 feet of reversal film, b&w and color) and was curious what the most economical and still good quality transfer to video would be? what are some of the leading places that do transfers? have any of you tried doing a basic transfer at home with a camcorder and projector? anyone have decent results with that? is there a good tutorial/guide for doing that? anyways, let me know. thank you! ~adam
  2. hey all, thanks for everyone's support with my questions, hopefully this is my last question for awhile... i was wondering if anyone could make me some recomendations for inexpenive tripods...i have a k-3 (about 7 pounds). i think ill mostly be using it for locking in place but occasionally would use it for panning. are there any decent tripods for under $100? how about for under $150? anyways, thanks in advance! ~adam
  3. man, it would be great if someone could post a video on youtube about how to properly load a K-3! any takers? ~adam
  4. hello again... i recently borrowed a pentax screw mount 50mm lens from someone to use on my krasnogorsk 3 camera to shoot some closer images than the zoom lens allowed...yet i found that the image from the pentax seemed to magnify what i was shooting quite a bit. why is this? and what would be a good, inexpensive screw mount lens to find that would be able to get a close up shot (within two feet or less) without it seeming magnified or distorted? anyways thanks again! ~adam
  5. hey all... please help! This afternoon, directly after finishing a 100' roll of tri-x with a borrowed krasnogorsk-3, the trigger somehow got stuck inside it's housing and the motor stopped running (which i didnt noticed until i tried to load a new roll of film)...has this happened to anyone before?? im not sure why this happened... im wondering if its becuase i accidently ran the motor for a few seconds after the roll of film had finished?? (i was using a cable release for it that was screwed into the trigger)...does anyone know how to fix this?? i really hope so, because i borrowed this from a very trusting friend. anyhow, any help/advice would be greatly appreciated! thank you very much!! ~adam
  6. hey all... another beginner's question here... are there any good DIY ways to create simple titles and credits without post production work (ie in camera)? im working with reversal B&W tri-x film (with a little reversal color film) and a krasnogorsk-3...any methods/ideas would be appreciated. thank you in advance!! ~adam
  7. Hey all... I had a question...im borrowing a krasnogorsk-3 from a friend and was curious if its possible to use a standard still photography camera tripod for it? or does one need to buy a special tripod for 16mm cameras? i saw that the screw in part on the bottom of the k3 looks a bit bigger than the standard still photography size...and also, if anyone has any other good DIY ideas for keeping a 16mm camera steady without having a special tripod, let me know. thank you!! ~adam
  8. Hey all... i just learned from michael carter about the auricon sound-on-film camera...were there other cameras that record and expose the optical soundtrack right on the film? was it automatically in-sync? id love to learn more about this type of camera.... ~adam
  9. hello... im curious what are some ways to make a 16mm film that looks like it it was made in the 10's or 20's, without the use of digital effects? im going to be working with a basic student bolex model 16mm camera and was curious if there were low budget ways to get this effect...anyways, thanks! ~adam
  10. hello... it is reversal film im working with...how much do you think making a print with an optical soundtack of 100' feet of film would cost (with reversal film)? any help would be great. thanks again! ~adam
  11. hello... im a complete newbie with little expereience, so bear with me...im planning on shooting a very short, experimental silent B&W 16mm film clip soon...and was wondering about adding sound/music...is it possible to get sound added onto a silent 16mm film (via an optical soundtrack strip)? how much does that cost?? is it done at the same time as the film processing? theres no dialouge, so no need for exact timing....anyways, thanks in advance! ~adam ps- how about magnetic sound strips? i know some old 16mm film prints had that and could seemingly be recorded onto easily with the right projector...do they make such film anymore?
