I have the 758-Cine but rarely use it these days, sometimes the spot meter. If you have an iphone check out the Cine Meter ll App. You will be surprised how accurate and simple it is to use and I think it's about $7!

I would generally agree with you Freya most films screened in 3D are visually not worth the effort they put in. There are exceptions though and when It's done well with the right story and director, makes for a fun couple of hours! Transformers "Dark of the Moon" was jaw dropping good in the Cinema! For me it was a "ok now I get it" moment.

Nice first post Ryan! Great subject to shoot. Kabuki is so beautifull to watch. It was really well shot, lovely window reflections in the eyes. Not criticism but more an observation, why did no one clean the stain on the back drop? Just drew my eye to it all the time.

Really good John! I was looking for softness in the wider shots as Superspeeds go notoriously soft wide open but nothing to see here. Your interiors were really nice how did you light them?

Not blowing smoke Stephen that's just a fact! Was also fascinating to read his ideas on contrast ratios. The blacks 3 stops under key and something in the frame 3 to 3 and a half stops over! Filing that under "must be explored"

I really don't understand people who work and make a living in this industry downloading films for free! I am laughed at by many of my colleagues when I say " don't poop where you eat" Mainly be cause I'm a small player. Which is fine! If thats how want it to be but I would just say this, someone wrote that film and someone else paid for it to be produced and a Cinematographer shot it with a crew who worked many hours to get it right. There is no way I'm not going pay to see it! Which ever universe you live in you're stealing from other people who worked hard to produce it and depriving them of there income! Now before you all start I am a socialist! And I understand that the big bucks don't go to the crew but that doesn't excuse downloading their work for free.

There's a lot more than pededstal camerawork in TV Phil! Many documentary / drama Dp's have crossed over into mainstream features.

Unfortunately Phil's comments are probably true, but that doesn't mean you should be discouraged from trying! You certainly have passion which for me gets you half way there. Set your sights high but expect to be disappointed, if you love what you do you can still have a fulfilling career as a cameraman. But maybe not in the film industry! TV is a steady workhorse certainly saved me the last 2 years!

Watch films loads and loads of films! Then try and emulate what you saw and liked. Love what you do no matter how small you think it is. Steal from the best! Ask if you don't know and shoot as much as you can. And then hope something happens for you! And also what everyone else wrote!

Goes forever on a V mount! I think this might be the first camera I buy in 10 years. They make it very hard not to buy one!

Using predominately cold blue hues and mixing them with warmer yellow orange hues as your main colour pallete. Extensive use on many Hollywood productions. It's colour science apparantly complimentary colours "pop" on screen. Although saying that possibly the most consistantly brilliant cinematographer of the last 25 years does a "Nice Teal & Orange" is a little off I think!

I also have all of them on my iPad! Makes you think if a publisher wouldn't be interested? You have kind of put your own twist on these cinematographers which makes it very personal and special!

Maybe Garret had gone home by then? Seems an elaborate compromise when you have a steadicam on the set! I'm guessing he wanted two focal lengths in one pass.

Don't laugh I actually have a degree in Graphic Design! Admittedly when it was called commercial art and "Copy and Paste" meant exactly that! Trajan wasn't popular then as I remember but I really didn't see the significant use of this font in film posters until now! I guess It's a zeitgeist thing! "Trajan" Must be good cause everyone uses it? Thanks for that Phil one more piece of useless information to store:-)

The dogs in "A fish called Wanda" didn't fare well! But that was done with such Pythonesque humour that the dog death factor wasn't a problem. In fact a good example of how to kill dogs in film and still keep an audience?
