  1. Hi, shooting Tri-x for the first time. I've got 3 rolls of the new version and 2 of the old. Just wodering, considering the ASA on Tri-X will my image look washed out on outdoor shots? Regards, Ernie Zahn
  2. If you make a petition, I'll sighn it :D The Supermag 400 seems cool but the thing is who knows how many will actually be made and even more impotantly when people start to auction them off ebay jerks will make the closing bid so ridiculously high i may have to cry. I know it will happen.

    16mm Filmstock

I just got my first roll 16mm filmstock. It's Tri-X which I'm shooting with my DeVry camera. The camera looks about 60 or 70 years old at least. But it seems to function fine. Anybody handle anything this old? Any body got any important tips I should know about DeVry's? And more impotantly, can someone name a good place to get this stuff processed in the tri-state area: NY, CT, NJ or a good place that's far but I could mail in? Regards, Ernie Zahn
  4. Hi, I'm somewhat new to 16mm myself but I've shot in Super 8 and Standard for close to 10 years now. From what I know about 16mm I'd say the easiest thing to do would be to just pick up a $10-$30 16mm camera on ebay to get a feel for it. The most it's going to have is a crank, paralax view (usually), film meter, light meter. From my experience with shopping for 16mm if you want sound or a motorized camera you really have to go professional. Super 8 seems to offer a lot more variety for amateurs, you can get a throw away camera on Super 8 that still is sound, 16mm seems to be mostly dedicated to the professional demographic. And as far as the Krasnogorks-3 goes, I have never handeled one of those so can't help ya there. Regards, Ernie Zahn Bonnut Film Studio
  5. Thanks for the help wasn't traying to bash the site or anything because I do prefer buying my Super 8 filmstocks straight from Kodak I just didn't understand any other section on the site outside Super 8. Thanks again :D
  6. Hiya, I was wondering does anyone know any places where I could get duplication for Super 8 films? Or where I can get transfers from DV to Super 8? I know a good place that can blow up Super 8 or DV to 16mm or 35mm but not DV to Super 8 and Super 8 to Super 8. Regards, Ernie Zahn Bonnut Film Studio
  7. Thanks for the help. And I don't know how Robert Giampa is going to respond to "how is it possible to live in Los Angeles and not be able to find out where to buy film?" but speaking for myself I'm on the east coast. All filmstock places are scattered. I could probably try B&H but I haven't been to that area of Manhatten in years, and I don't have the time right now to go check if they have it ;) By the way I've been to the Kodak site before outside of Super 8 I have no idea what I'm looking for in filmstocks. They have millions of fancy names for these filmstocks like there seems to be 30 differnt Vision series stocks and I have no idea what gauge it is it's all overwhelming on that site.
  8. Just out of curiosity is there no one interested or is there no on in the area? By the way photographer is taken just got someone to fill in for that job.
  9. Hiya, I've been shooting Super 8 for quite a while now and I've had this old DeVry 16mm camera kicking around for about 30 years and it looks about 50 years older than the time it's been in my possesion. It seems to work fine the crank works it, no places for possible light leaks etc. The next step is to actually try it out, can anyone give me a good place that sells filstock? I could name at least 15 good places for Super 8 but when it comes to 16mm I'll just shrug and say ebay. Let me know, Ernie Zahn
  10. Very cool I'll have to pick up a few rolls.
  11. If it helps, here are the jobs I'm looking for if you wanna contribute: Super 8 camera assistent, Someone to document the filming on a DV camera so we can review that days filming without havinbg to wait for the film to be developed (DV camera will be provided), and photographer for publicity shots. Thanks let me know
  12. Hiya, I'm aware that Kodak no longer makes 200 ft cartridges but does anyone know where I can get some? Or is there a another smaller company out there producing them? Regards, Ernie Zahn BonnutFilmStudio
  13. Hi, my studio is currently in production for a Super 8 film. The script is written, and most of the cast is present, first rehearsal will be perhaps next weekend. The film is a murder mystery to resemble early D.W. Griffith films with slight remnance of german expressionists. The film will be approximate 15 mins in length and will be submitted to the Director's View Film Festival in NYC. I already am on the writing team for one other film this year and I helped develop another film from last season as well as being the camera assistent during filming. This'll be the studio's first big production. Looking mainly for people familar with Super 8 so I can trust them when they handle the camera or what have you, when I can't for whatever reason. I have a group of musicians that will do the score for the film. After it's screeing in May 2005 I will consider publishing it on DVD. I have the equipment to do so myself and anyone that was involved will get due credit on the screening credits as well as on DVD. If anyone is interested just e-mail me or IM me. By the way anyone interested I must know by October 9th because shooting will be soon after! And it will be filmed in Greenwich, CT so probably only lookin for people in that area. It's about an hour outside NYC. Regards, Ernie Zahn Bonnut Film Studio
