  1. Ah shucks, Richard, just light another one. There's enough fire to go around. Actually, I love satire and the few comments I make are all satirical. Like when I get res #410 I'll have 3 cameras and that will make me almost 1/2 as professional as the guy with 7. (Someone's going to REDprimand me for that) I personally don't see why it's so annoying to allow the newbies to dream. They'll be shattered soon enough by reality. I might even pick up a great deal on a camera. In the mean time, I wish I could come up with a viral campaign as wildly successful. You gotta admire that.
  2. Hey Walter, Did you mean "dribble" as in allowing saliva to drip from one's mouth or "drivel" as in talking nonsense? Or were you making another incredibly clever pun? I'm just curious why you're commenting on page 9 when professionalism stops at page 2. I make a decent living in the television industry but I don't mind the "hobbyists," as you seem to deridingly call them, joining in, nor do I believe they are ALL doing it wrong.
  3. sorry... Hey, how about them frame grabs? Looking pretty good for an 18 grand camera, eh?
  4. Dear Diary: Oooh! Look at ME. I'M Richard BODdington. I'M on IMDB! That makes me...something! My great body of work is admired the world over. I am an ARTIST! My vast body of work could EVEN be compared to...to... well... Oliver Twist. Yeah, that's it! I'm in the same category of great filmmakers. And it only took me --a long long time to accomplish all I've done. So who is that upstart Jim Jannard to think he has ANY business building anything? He has never done anything to match my magnificent work! And doing it in only 15 months. Pooh! I coulda done it in 3! Where was I? Oh yes... I make BILLIONS. Mankind is better for my existence. I am the BODDIFIER! I feel like hanging over the bow of the ship yelling "I'M ASS OF THE WORLD!" I sign my mirror every morning "to myself with greatest admiration and love." Hmm. I wonder why no one recognized ME when I snuck into the Red booth. They're just little people anyway. They wouldn't know it if greatness bit them on the ASS! Keep up the great work Richard. You are loved by all!
  5. Exactly. It has the potential and at a price point well below that Sony they couldn't hope to afford.
  6. I think I find some of these posts so annoying because I understand these guys' dreams. When I started out with a single-tube camera, finally moving to a 3-tube camera, and then to chips and then higher quality DV, I was always frustrated at each stage that I could not achieve that high-end look that the big guys were getting--they always could do things I couldn't. I could achieve better quality with lighting or a better green screen with massage and tricks but it wasn't where I wanted to go. I believe many of those guys being disparaged see the chance to have a piece of gear that will at least allow them to have the option to get that better look they've been trying to achieve. I've never heard any of them talk like they'll become instant DPs and it'll happen just by turning the camera on. I think they KNOW they have lots to learn.
  7. I can't imagine that anyone would approach a client that way (ranting about ultra hi def). I've certainly never sold a job with that approach and I can't remember seeing anyone else talk like that. Most of the time my clients don't understand anything about those issues but they DO understand seeing good examples of work.
  8. Walter Graff, I've been reading your posts with dismay. I used to respect you, man. I even paid money to subscribe to your newsletter because I thought you were trying to help those "neophytes" and others less experienced than you to grow and mature in their knowledge and craft. I don't know what has made those Red grapes so very very sour for you, but it's too sad. And since I've observed your clever coining of phrases and definitions, hoping they'll catch on no doubt, and your relentless negativity to all things Red, I'm forced to change my view of you as a "mentor" type to that of a condescending, pretentious hypocrite. Is that "jumblemouth" enough for you? (And I don't even own a pair of Oakleys)
