  4. Anyone know more about octavision camera... i could not find any specs or pricing on their site. http://octavision.olympus-global.com/en/ Thx.
  5. Sorry for the delayed reply, i was out of the country.... Yes it is form a machine vision project, it has a Camera Link output.
  6. Jon Farhat is good at what he does but.... if you look at his website http://www.jfi.net/ he states that he is a RED Team Member and says "Proud to have participated as a member of the RED CAM development team." As David said it will be more useful to get feedback form cinematographers....
  7. I agree on the pricing; also it is more than the sensor that makes a good solution... Most of the sensors in the still cameras (10+MP) cant run at high frame rates. I had several conversations with the manufacturer and based on the specs looks like the sensor they have will perform; they also have other features like HDR imaging (for every frame they can store 3 different exposures). Also support is going to be key in the first year for any successful product launch. I think there will be a solution in less than 2 years? but price ☺ Also folks at red are doing an amazing job of changing the industry?! I wish them all the best and I will be one of their customers.
  8. It?s not a copyright issue? the CMOS chip manufacturer (US company) gave them an exclusive right to use the sensor in entertainment vertical till Q1 2008. Also typically companies get patents on technology (they hold good for more than 18months).
  9. I have been working with few chip (CMOS) / camera manufacturers? one of them has a chip that has similar specs as RED?s chip. Apparently a ?Japanese? company has excusive on it till Q1 / Q2 2008 on that chip. I guess they will be launching their camera some time in 2008? RED has less that one year to get as many cameras to the market before some big (Sony, Panasonic, JVC? ) company starts to compete with similar product.
  10. My Red One will be delivered next year, let me know if anyone is willing to trade the their earlier reservation for some $....
  11. I am using a custom built chip/camera; actually it is not a full 1inch chip (close to 1inch). Below are the specs: Array Format: 2,400H x 1,800V Sensor Imaging Area (approximately): 16mm H x 12mm V -Diagonal 20mm
  12. This might be a good option... http://www.zgc.com/zgc.nsf/c7a682995edb4e7...71?OpenDocument
  13. It has an F-mount... I can get them to build me a custom PL mount. Do you think the Zeiss F mount photo lenses have the same optics / quality as other PL mount lenses?
  14. I am working with a camera that has a 16mm x 12mm CMOS chip; this is bigger than a typical 2/3" sensor and smaller than 35mm film image area (~24mm x 18mm). Can someone recommend an appropriate lens to use with this type of a camera?
  15. Looks like it wad done by compositing 2 shots (split screen); you can clearly see where the comp was done... at the light pole vertically. Also you can see a car disappear behind the light pole (cutoff) when it turns right.
  16. The camera is custom built digital camera (200fps) that has a c-mount or an f-mount on it; the camera has a 16:9 /1 inch COMS chip that can take 35mm lenses. The release format is Anamorphic; I would like to use PL Anamorphic lenses. Thx, Chuck.
  17. Any one knows of c mount anamorphic lenses or if there is an adaptor from PL mount to C mount. Thx, Chuck.
