  1. OK ... Arri Munich called and they can do it. I was just hoping some one might know of a company in the US who could do the it for me. Any leads appreciated. Thanks C
  2. Looking at an older Arri BL3 and was wondering if someone would be so kind as to clarify a couple of points for me. I have attached two photos. 1: The gate appears to be a full Aperture Standard 4 perf frame. 2: The ground Glass appears to be a 1:1,37 Academy Aperture What would I need to do to shoot Super 35mm on this camera? 1: Change the gate? 2: Change the ground glass? 3: Realign / re-center of the PL mount/flange? Any tips, advise, pointers, direction appreciated. Regards Chooser
  3. Hi Alan .. just wondering if you had any luck with finding a manual? I have a BL3 and am on the hunt for one as well. Thanks Chooser.
  4. Hello ... just a question about storing processed 35mm film. I have a new chest freezer which is not in use. Just wondering if it would be ok to store processed film in it. I have been using to store unprocessed film on and off for a while. Is the humidity or lack of it a factor? Strange I was thinking of posting this for a few days now and thinking of John. Shocked to see his post today. I am sure he will be fine and back soon. Thoughts and prayers to you John. Off to give the family a hug.
  5. thank you. appreciate it.

  8. BL3 and BL3 converted to a BL4 Hi just looking for some feed back on BL3's converted to BL4's. From what I can tell it's the view finder / optics are the main difference? Just wondering what if any, the difference would be between a factory BL4 and an upgraded BL3? I know a lot of factors involved, but just looking for general feedback and comments really. Points of note, watch out for's, operator feedback, variations in conversations etc. Thanks in advance.
  9. Just wondering if anyone had any info on this movie, which I really enjoyed btw, in relation to stock (internal and external) and possible filters used. thanks

  12. What is generally regarded as the best spot meter available today under $1000? .... alternatively, a list of the top 3-5 perhaps .... I know it's a personal thing ... but just curious on what recommendations would be .. thanks
  13. BTW: has anyone seen Alison Macleans short Kitchen Sink. OK it's nearly 20years old, I think I saw it as a short, prior to a Film Festival Feature when I was in NZ as a kid, boy it was an absolute killer ...
  14. well ..... I am trying to doing it, 35mm, 40,000ft and counting, lots of dailogue, shot in two countries, small spooky drama actually. However as with P Jacksons first feature, it has taken a good 14 months plus of part time shooting. Can be done. Did an interview with Mr Jackson back in the end of the 80's, he had vision if not financial means at that time. Alison Maclean got absolutely hammered after Crush at the beginning of the 90's. Nikki Caro shot all her early shorts on a shoe string. All children to a degree of the early Geoff Murphy / Roger Donaldson / Sam Neil punk just do it attitude. Bruno Lawrence deserves a mention here as well. Lee Tamahori, Vincent Ward, Jane Campion (and many more) and a list of new comers, Taika Waititi and Toa Fraser to name a few, look them up on the web / IMDB. Never ever let jaded technicians, engineers and money men say that it cannot be done. If you have the vision and drive and some god given talent you will come through in the end. Not, Never and will ever be easy. Easy is working in an office on salary for the rest of your life. Nothing wrong with that, if you can be happy with it, but if you are, then odds on you aren't reading this tonight, today, this morning .............. Sorry for the rant. ps: own cameras are a major plus
