    HIT value

Hello guys, I'm going to film a commercial in 3D. I plan to shoot parallel using Qtake or the 3Ality SIP and apply the right value for the HIT. Any advice? My understanding is to set the value starting to have the cameras perfectly line up then, before apply the interaxial, apply the HIT to have the right percentage related to the screen target. So if the screen target is 13m, the max positive parallax is going to be 0.5% so the HIT has to be about 10 px.I'll shift left and right for 5px each. Is it the right procedure or someone has a better idea? Thanks for reading Michele
  4. Hi Nick, I've found a way. I'll use a series of LED next to the lighter and the on/off switch remoted from an operator or from the actor himself. I did some test and it looks great. Thanks for your help anyway.I appreciate. Michele
  5. Hi Nick, Thanks for your piece of advice. I'm a bit worried about sync using this way.Won't be easy sync dimmer and flint toghter... Maybe using a photosensor on the dimmer...I'm thinking about this option. Thanks a lot! Michele
  6. Hi guys, First thank you for reading this post. I'm going to film a project where the main light is from a lighter in the total darkness :o There are different scenes where the light will be created from the sparks of the flint only  To make everything more difficult is that the lighter has seen in the frame. My question is: how can I increase the light from the sparks especially in sync with them? I was thinking to use a battery's car(shorting positive and negative pole together) but how can I sync lighter and it together? Do anyone has a better idea? All the best! Michele
  7. Sorry,I posted in the wrong forum. I'll re-post it on lighting forum. Sorry!!!!!

  9. Hi guys, Does anyone knows how manage the polarization issue through the beamsplitter of a 3D rig. I've heard using a IR polar filter. Thanks a lot! :D Michele

  12. I have been really busy.Something is going to change.
  13. Hi Peter, thanks for the useful suggestion you gave us about the company who make stereoscopic mirror. I was looking from weeks about a company just specialized on them. Thanks a lot!!!! Michael
  14. Hello, I am looking for a proper beam splitter because I am making a personal 3D rig.Someone could suggest me where I can find it? I tested different beam splitter from different company and all of them have a magenta or green dominant.Could you give me some advice please? Thanks a lot! Michael
  15. Hi Russel, thanks for your reply. as you know there are different point of view.I prefere don't toe-in and do it in post but there are different stereographer that prefere do it in shot. This was the reason for my question. I don't understend your last sentence(about film plane).Could you explain it to me please? My question was:what is it the right point(pivot/rotation point)to toe-in the camera? All the best!!!
  16. Hello, (first I rectify the word 'glass') another 3D stereoscopic question: does someone know how I can choose the right beam splitter for a mirror rig? Which criteria or procedure I have to follow to find the right one.Which characteristic must have it? Thanks a lot!
  17. Hello, special 3D stereoscopic question: is it better toe-in on the lens' nodal point, film plane or camera's body? If the convergence(toe in) can be adjust on the lens' nodal point or film plane, will the keystone effect be improved? Thanks a lot
  18. Thank you guys for the precious advice... I cross my fingers and.....let's rock! all the best Michele
  19. ok....sorry for my double posting, I didn't know was against the rules...really sorry...light category only....sorry again!!
  20. Really thanks for your reply.. because the whole short movie is when the sun is almost set toward the night, how can I cheat it. I can't shoot in the sunset time only...I can't plane the production schedule only in that time..I need whole day...I am thinking how make this transition... and I didn't tell you one thing...this is a stereoscopic project...so,we need time, rehearsal before shooting. I think it is something really ambitious, but not impossible... Some advice? Give up? I am just joking!! thanks Michele

  22. It is really hard....I thinking if there is any chance to do it in post-production. Emulate key light with some 3D software....uhmm any advice? Thanks!! Michele
  23. Hi chaps, it will be on location...landscape on background...this means whole day daylight(if is cloudy it will be better). The problem is that during the story the light is changing gradually until reach the night(moonlight). What I am thinking is how emulate this change...and especially with wide lens. Post-production? Thanks chaps!!! Michele
