  1. Hey guys, I've finally got my site up and would love to hear what you think. We have so many incredible cinematographers in our world, that I will hold my breath as I post this for you all. I'm reasonably happy with most of what's there in spite of a few technical rough spots that will resolve soon. I really do want to hear your thoughts. I'm already planning what to dump, so if I hear the same from some of you, that will encourage me to recut soon. For my DP reel: Click here! Thanks. 2. Math being my very weak suit, and why I went to art school in the first place, I reach out to you, o brothers and sisters for some numbers. Have any of you worked out, or found an accurate, assuming your math skills can allow you to check, (gosh this sounds like a great catch 22 issue) the circle of confusion for 1/3 or 1/4 chip cameras? I'm trying to set up a custom FoV for the iphone pCAM app. I've roughed in some numbers and seem to be getting some wacky data out. Jonathan (still struggling with algebra) Rho
  3. Any one out there had experience with an HDX900 and either a portable P2 recorder or the NanoFlash system? The AJA KiPRO is still pending but if any of you 'special' shooters had had the chance to use this, I'd love to hear what you think. Thanks, Jonathan (needs to upgrade on a budget) Rho
  4. Trying to do a live FW cap in FCP (latest V) I've had success but not in capturing the same TC from the simultaneous tape recording. FCP seems to only cap from HDX via FW as 'Non-Controllable Device'. Has anyone found a solution that works just with FCP without additional cards or hardware? Thanks, Jonathan
  5. Thanks all. Glad to hear this solution is a good one, albeit mostly for those of us geeky enough to manage it carefully. (Hmmm....ahh...sorry folks. I was mostly talking about myself here.) Have a great weekend! Jonathan Rho
  6. Have any of you owner op's/editors/production companies used a 'Firestore' with the HDX900? I've only spoken with one person who has done so. Abel has taken the FireStore out of their rental inventory due to some 'user problems' or some such issue. I'd like to do something easier than capturing 'live' with Final Cut and a drive while shooting. Any feedback, problems, likes, dislikes, or suggestions regarding Firestore (or other similer options) will be most helpful. thanks, Jonathan
  7. Ahhh, another lurker emerges from the shadows. My name is Jonathan Rho. I work as a DP on features in the low to medium budget world. Like many other 'voyeurs' here, I emerge now to stay alive on with the thought that one day I'll actually write something regarding our little world of film....ah...opps. I should really say 'movie making' or 'story telling' given how much we are moving into HD. Thank goodness it's still about the lighting.... Jonathan Rho
