  1. Have you seen your footage in a Super 8 projector? Or only the telecine? Just thinking it might be a problem in the telecine, obviously from over compensating for the dark results of the film, to me the picture looks like its shot at night with only street lights illuminating the scene. I've underexposed E64 severely (In areas but always with a point somewhere close or at correct exposure) but the dark areas always come out.. just that, dark. Not with such a blue weird overcast, looks very much video to me. So how does it look run through a projector?
  2. Hello everyone! Just recently finished a little Super8 Project where we shot a small, i dont want to call it documentary, but a few minutes of film from the Roskilde Festival in Denmark. Shot with a Elmo Super106 on E64T and transferred to HD ProRess format. Just thought id post a link here to Vimeo for all you Super8 junkies, and maybe someone would be kind enough to give some feedback aswell, would be greatly appreciated. http://www.vimeo.com/6289168 Enjoy!
  3. Hello I was wondering if someone here could help me identify an artefact problem I got using a Panasonic HPX 500 some time ago. In the picture attached you can see what I’m talking about, it’s the blue “ghosting” around the edges of objects, mostly in high contrast clearly, but if you zoom in on the pic you can see its really everywhere. It’s even on the guy with the snowboard and on the boards beneath him where the contrast really isn’t that high. Anyone got an idea what the problem is called and what causes it? The lamp in the background is a 1200 HMI lighting the Smoke. I’ve managed to repair it quite well using the channel mixer in AE to remove two of the RGB channels on the problem area, and then correcting back the original colour to match the rest of the picture. Would be interesting to get a real explanation to why it occurs though. Thanks allot!
  4. Nice to hear that you liked the Super8 stuff! I have nothing to do with the Koyanisqatsi stuff (Was my first thought aswell, beautiful film that is) But i believe its Time Laps and Time exposure actually, which some Super8 cameras can do. Some info here: http://www.cinematography.com/forum2004/in...showtopic=27499 http://www.cinematography.com/forum2004/in...showtopic=27607 I was just reading up on the subject actually
  5. Here's a link to the Super8 Group on Vimeo, should be enough for an evening of Super8 film watching http://www.vimeo.com/groups/super8/videos Make sure to see "De Jagade" now ;)
  6. looked really nice, with a good mix of different filmstocks that i really thought added to whole experience! The 50D looked really great i think! Maybe i should roll some film through my 106, seems to be able to yield very good results
  7. It was purely due too budget reason, not that we had any budget to speak of ;) We also wrote a dissertation in cojunction with the project, and decied that basing the research on e64 was a good chioce awell Thank you!
  8. Thanks for those kind words Chris! It was telecined here in Sweden by ?Uppsala Bildteknik? with a Flashscan machine . No grading was done during telecine. Just got a 4008 serviced, hope we got to use it soon!
  9. I really liked this one actually! Especially the car scenes wore nice, like the straight on headlight shot. Which stock was that? All in I all I liked the look and pacing, yeah a little bit more light in the card player would be nice as stated above. Planning anymore Super8 projects?
  10. Thanks for your reply James The cellar scene was very much Red heads if I remember correctly. At least on the general + Soldiers there?s a redhead at ceiling level pointing down on them. And some backlight from the practical work light behind them. The doctors lighting is, i think a red head from camera right + a redhead or 300w for the shadow on the wall. After that its pretty much just blasting the red head straight at him. Or did we use a blonde instead of redheads on the doctor? I?m not sure, sorry. Come to think of it, we might gave bounced some light from the ceiling as well. My memory isn?t all that great I?m afraid. Yeah I agree the muzzle flashes aren?t very good, limited time I guess. 10 year old on YouTube? Yeah maybe, haha. The camera wasn?t serviced properly which might have added some to the instability. Yeah you can stabilize it in post, but I wouldn?t want to lose that kind of resolution on something already of low res. So we decided to roll with and claim it would add to the charm of Super8! Yeah this was our first Super8 attempt. Get your 5008 out and shoot some, its allot of fun! Cheers!
  11. I like it, was very nice actually Didn?t care much for the fade in/out in the beginning, especially on the picture of the singer. Think it looked a bit cheap in some way But it was remedied once you got past that, like the shots of the drummer and the guitarist And setting the drum set on fire! Just loved it
  12. I have been planning on giving abit longer replay to your great feedback Billy and Matthew, but seems i dont really have the time.. Anyhow, really appreciate your feeback and comments, very helpfull and inspiering, thanks allot!
