  1. Any idea of the dB level? Would you be able to shoot dialog with it inside a quiet room? Looked at manual and data sheet but couldn't find that info.
  2. This is my personal camera since a few years ago. Serviced by AM Camera in Valencia, CA https://www.ebay.com/itm/166405206151 Thanks for looking!
  3. Hello, I have a Compact Mk2 3perf and 4perf. kit with many extras and I am interested in selling. ¿What is your budget?
  4. In the USA this is the place: https://www.amcamera.com
  5. Great information. Thank you both. Best wishes for 2018 and happy holidays.
  6. Thank you both for you knowledge and insight. I had an understanding from the Compact Mark2 manual that: "Because the three perforation image acquisition technology seems to have a strong revival now, both ARRI-CAM cameras as well as the upgraded MOVIECAM COMPACT Mk2 enable shooting either with 4 or 3 perforation pull-down. " Therefore I would understand that the camera system is relatively easy to switch between 4 and 3 perf on any Mark2? That was my specific question for anyone with direct experience on a Compact Mark2. Dom, so have all the Mark2s been factory modified so that all I would need is a conversion kit and a qualified tech?
  7. Hello, I was wondering if any Moviecam Compact Mark2 is inherently easy to switch between 4-perf and 3-perf movement. Thanks for your help!

  9. This Aaton XTRprod camera is easily the best that you would probably come across on eBay. Or anywhere else! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160614779723 *Very late serial number. *Barely used (less than 90 rolls of film have gone trough it and can be confirmed by Abel Cinetech). *In immaculate, like new condition. *Never rented. *Just been completely checked and serviced by Abel Cinetech in L.A. with paperwork to confirm. 10. # 3 is wrong! The 1.3x anamorphic example of "Black Swan" was shot with spherical (normal) Arri Ultra 16 lenses! Same as "Irreversible", "The Wrestler", etc. Just read the AC Dec '10 article on it.
  11. 1-Movies shot on regular 16 with 2x anamorphic are "Japon" by Carlos Reygadas and "I Stand Alone" by Gaspar Noe. These two examples are projected in 35mm Scope capable cinemas with an aspect ratio of around 2.66:1 They just add thin black bars in top and bottom of the 2.40:1 aspect ratio of the 35mm print. You can use any PL mount camera and ANY 2x anamorphic lens to achieve this. 2-"Irreversible" and most of "Enter the Void" by Gaspar Noe, "The Wrestler" by Darren Aronofsky are some examples of films shot on Super 16 framing for 2.40:1 achieved trough cropping in the digital intermediate. This is the easier way and would be basically the same process as shooting super 35 for scope finish. You can use any Super 16 camera and any spherical lens. 3- Using 1.3x anamorphic squeeze lenses by Hawk on Super 16. I believe Black Swan by Darren Aronofsky was shot like this? This sounds interesting BUT there is only one kind of lenses that you can use to achieve. In theory one would get the best quality in the 16mm anamorphic options because you use the complete 1.66 area... Hope this helps.
  12. I am looking for one or two Aaton batteries and a charger. NiMH-3 Even if they are not working anymore I would be interested. Thanks!
  13. Visual Products is a good and honest company that I have done business with many times in the past 10 years to complete satisfaction. Amat
  14. OK. Thank you very much. I probably wont go DI+35 anamorphic. I have access to 35mm camera and anamorphic lenses and I love the look of anamorphics, but i just wish I could have the control of the image as with a digital intermediate. All the best.
  15. Hello, I was wondering if there are any examples of DI features that have been shot with anamorphic optics, 35mm 4 perf. What would be the minimum resolution recommended to work in post with this? 2K, 4K? Basically it would be to keep that anamorphic lens look in shooting but the flexibility of a DI in post.
  16. Really sorry to get this news today. My best wishes to his family... and sincere condolences.
  17. OK that is good news. Very strange that I called the Hollywood office on Monday and they where very clear with me that they only have the C's. I spoke directly to someone in the lens department supposedly. I will call again and talk directly to Denny Clairmont or Irving Correa.
  18. Hello and thank you all. No problem at all with Camtec they are a very nice company it seems. I am just staring to look around for these lenses. I checked out Camtec's set and was just curious to know who else rented these lenses in U.S.A. shopping around.... A few recent movies have been shot with these lenses and it seemed strange that only one set existed of them in U.S.A. but I guess that's how it is. I did contact Vantage about renting direct from them but they referred me to Clairmont Camera. But Clairmont does not have the V-series only the C's. Thanks again for the info.
  19. Thank you Eric but Clairmont only has the C series Hawks.
  20. Hello, I am looking to rent a set of Hawk V-series in USA (Shooting in California) and would like to know what options do I have, besides Camtec. Any leads will be greatly appreciated. All the best, www.mantarraya.com
  21. Some 35mm format anamorphic lenses will fit on a 16mm camera with PL mount. Thats the best you can probably do, as far as buying. I have never seen anamorphic lenses designed for 16mm. Thierry Tronchet in Paris rents the "Tronchet-Scope" system for 16mm anamorphic filming. It's an adapter you can use with Zeiss super speed primes.
  22. Ok. So everything is fine. I plan on a contact print. We do own a camera that has a full aperture gate. Thanks for all your help. Amat Escalante Director/Producer Guanajuato, México
  23. I am going to shoot a feature on 35mm using Anamorphic lenses and my camera has a "Full Aperture" gate. The camera, of course, is set up for regular 35mm not Super 35. Will everything be ok with this setup? Thanks for your help in advance. Amat Escalante Director/Producer Guanajuato, México
