  1. Advantage Grip's 'EZ Travel' breakdown 4x4 would be my suggestion. I bought the kit, & supplemented it with some additional diffusion, & floppy, 'slippers, plus a third frame. Bought the bits from Adorama, & BarnDoor Lighting Outfitters, as their prices were less than listed on Advantage Grip's site. Might be worth contacting them directly as it seems many Grip companies sell their wares below list. A breakdown 4x4, & floppy slipper costs about $185 before shipping.
  2. I've never gone this route, but domestically you might try Southwest Cargo. "On The Road: The Joys of Shipping: Drop it, weigh it, and go." By Darren Carroll http://www.sportsshooter.com/news/1560
  3. Thanks for your thoughts. Demoed Phantom's, & Weisscam's offerings & have an appointment with the HDIablo. Compared to their quirks, film seems a sweet option, but I don't think the numbers would work on this production. Best, Bern
  4. Phantom, & Weisscam, are the systems that come to mind, but I'm wondering if there's another better suited to this job. We've contacted Clairmont, & Abel/LA. Neither rents both systems so couldn't offer a comprehensive comparison, still speaking to Mitch is a good idea. I'm also hoping to get user's thoughts too. The film is for an NGO so I need to minimize cost, & travel as light as possible. Thanks, Bern
  5. We have a documentary coming up where the Director has requested we shoot segments at 1000+ fps in remote, & likely rough, locations in Africa, & India. The shots will not be repeatable, & we'll be working with a skeleton crew. Suggestions? Thanks, Bern
  6. I'm for owning a system if only for it's educational value, but as you don't seem to have a pressing need, so hold off a little bit on purchasing any camera until Canon, & RED, have made their announcements. Canon has an event in NY on October 26th regarding the EOS system, & another on November 3rd at Paramount Studios. RED will also be making an announcement on November 3rd. Even if these new products don't fit your need it's likely many others will ditch their current systems, & you could buy used at a discount.
