  1. I really like the xtal express. The set I've used a couple of times has come from Panalight in Rome. Shot this ad with them http://marcelzyskind.com/portfolio/martini-play-with-time It was was mixture of the xtal express and my Lomo spherical. The Neon Demon I believe was shot with the Xtal lenses. And btw shooting charts with them would usually scare most people away.
  2. I usually carry +1, +2 & +3 diopters when shooting anamorphic (also with spherical), occasionally also +.5. Don't forget you can also stack diopters. But then you're into macro world.
  3. Manhattan and Sideways! Mostly because they are two of my favourite films.
  4. Thank you Kalle. It is indeed a very nice lens. I'm keeping another one together with a Cooke 10-30mm for myself :-)
  5. Selling this beautiful classic Cooke zoom. I bought this for a Super 16mm film that unfortunately did not happen. Vignettes a little bit at the wide end on the s16mm Amira/Mini sup. The lens has just returned (less than two weeks) from TLS where it had a full service, clean and a new focus scale including both metric and imperial scale. Paint has peeled of a bit on the focus sleeve, but optics are mint condition. I can provide some test footage shot on the Amira s16mm sup if required. Includes a small flight case and zoom stick. PM for more high res pics or test footage. €3200 in the EU or $3600 rest of the world + shipping.
  6. I agree with Charles here, Mitomo True ND filters are really good.
  7. BTW there is a teaser here. http://www.dr.dk/dr1/forbrydelsen/
  8. Hello, it's has been a while since I've been on this great forum. I can tell you that there is a Forbrydelsen 3 on it's way, premiering in September. I shot the two first episodes. On the Alexa. Great work Gregory.
  9. Hi Simona,

Sorry for the late reply, i don't visit this site so often anymore. I was only in Lodz for 1 year on a exchange program. I was with the various years. I had a good time, although I'm not good at going to school. Today, I believe it is 5 year programme and you also have to learn polish on top of that. So prepare for a long time in school... I was happy working my wa...

  11. Hello I did this for a film, 9 Songs, back in 2004. We needed a print and didn't have the money to go through the Arri Laser. The film was shot on dv. Projected on a DLP projector, then shot on Fuji 64D. Had to do it twice since the first time we used the graded master which ended up to heavy and contrasty. But I still got an cinematography award for it in San Sebastian... For general release in England the print was more "normal" when we used the ungraded master. The film was initially only graded for dvd, hence the more contrast (not heavy contrast). It was just more than the neg could handle. We used 1000ft rolls, the neg was later combined. I believe I shot 25fps on the camera. Can't seem to remember anymore. All the best Marcel
  12. Hi Burak I've shot in Kenya some years ago. It was a great experience. Blue Sky Prod were good. Make sure you have all your jabs. Hepatitis A & B, Diphteria, Typhoid and so on. Check with your doctor. Are you going outside Nairobi? Saw your Tryg commercial, very nicely shot. It's been showing a lot here in Denmark in a very shortened version. What's the music in spot? Enjoy Kenya Marcel
  13. Hi Adam Just watch French Connection again. It will make you feel better. Best Marcel
  14. Hi Sergey Would it be possible for you to post some more pictures of the actual glass as well, looking into the lenses? Thank you. Marcel
  15. Hi there It is not so often I promote myself here, but I wish to get this out. Mister Lonely opens in London on March 14th and if you have a chance I wish you could go see it. It was pure pleasure to work on this film. There is a trailer that shows way to much on this website. http://www.misterlonely.co.uk/ All the best Marcel
  16. Hi David. Thank you for your quick reply. Marcel

    Backdrops

Hi there Does anyone know of films where big photographic backdrops have been used in studio to simulate real backgrounds outside a window. Prefferably recent films. I seem to have difficulty finding any. Perhaps because there are so well made? Many thanks Marcel
  18. I must say, I really like those ridiculus zooms. Check out Marathon Man, maybe not quick zooms, but well excecuted and firm zooms. Some good ones in there. Even a simple one of Roy Scheider crossing the street in Paris. But it's not just the zoom. It's the enviroment, the time, the costumes. Nostalgia perhaps. French Connection 2. Amazing zoom. M
  19. Hi We shoot on tape. And we are shooting the whole film at 0db gain and 1/50th shutter. Don't know the Canon camera unfortunatly. All the best Marcel
  20. Hi Stas I can not recommend the V1 for low light shooting. It is really a slow camera. We have been lighting night interiors more so than usual. Another thing we have problems with is "motion reproduction". The heavy HDV compression seems to have some problems with excessive movement like handheld camera work, steadicam work and shooting from cars on bumpy roads. I've never experienced anything like it on any other camera. It like the image jutters when the camera movement is to fast or bumpy!? All the steadishot modes are turned off. We are still shooting on this camera and I must say that it is a well built camera. But I'm not convinced by this HDV format... Definitly do some tests. All the best Marcel
