  1. I just received it, thanks, works great! Thanks!
  2. Hi I have a Konvas 2M, I would like to buy and install a video tap device, Rafael over at rafcamera.com let me know that he is sold out and his tech won't be making any more soon, so now I am looking around for one of those so I can complete my camera kit and start shooting. Anyone have one of his? Or another device? Or recommendations to make my own? Or if you have another proven device, or know of a way I can make one myself please let me know! Though I would prefer the raf version since it's proven, but I'm willing to try anything since I need to get to filming soon. Thanks!
  3. Hey James are you here in LA? I'm interested in this magazine, can I buy next week? Remember we spoke a while ago about the anamorphic desqueezer? I got one already. But now I need this magazine, and a video tap, of some sort, can you recommend a video tap/ assist solution? Do you have one? Raf Camera's version is sold out and he said is not expecting to make any more soon. Thanks!

Does anyone have a videotap from rafcamera for the Konvas 2M? It's the 6th photo down from this link, http://konvas.org/fa...n-a-konvas.html Or if you have another proven device, or know of a way I can make one myself please let me know! 5. Thanks everyone for your great advice and info. So I have purchased a Konvas 2M camera with the crystal synch motor for only $550 from ebay. It was a great deal! And I picked it up locally here in LA. Later I will be upgrading to the modern digital motor from Olex in Ukraine. So I want to shoot anamorphic as you know, so I upgraded and purchased a anamorphic desqueezer and anamorphic gate from ebay as well, they shipped from Ukraine and Russia. I'm going to be renting some lomo roundfront anamorphic lenses for the shoots. The next thing I need now is a video tap device, Rafael over at rafcamera.com let me know that he is sold out and his tech won't be making any more soon, so now I am looking around for one of those so I can complete my camera kit and start shooting. 6. Hi actually I'm looking for any pl mount anamorphic lens, I will install a pl mount on my konvas camera that's why. Let me know what you have and the asking price. Thanks.
  7. Hi, I am looking to purchase anamorphic lenses for a Konvas 1M or 2M. Please let me know what anamorphic lenses you have, that will fit this camera, and if I need a special mount installed or if it's ready to go. An anamorphic zoom would be great if you have that too. Thanks.
  8. Thanks for that tip also James, I will certainly test that method. Sorry, what do you mean by underexposing by 1/3 of a stop? If my light meter tells me to light at f11 for example, and the nearest f stops are f8 and f16 on the lens, what do you mean by 1/3 of a stop? Thanks. Steve where can I buy these same exact lenses that you used? I just got an email back from rafcamera and they don't have any anamorphics. Hawks are definitely out of the price range, I would be happy to use the same lenses you did, to me your footage looks great, plus maybe just sharpening the image in post might help if I think it's still too hazy. Thanks.
  9. Thanks for that tip also James, I will certainly test that method. Sorry, what do you mean by underexposing by 1/3 of a stop? Steve where can I buy these oct 19's, oct 18's and Ana lenses? I can't find any anamorphic lenses anywhere, any tips? Where did you buy your anamorphic set? Thanks.
  10. Hi Steve, thanks so much for responding. You're footage looked great to me. Are you able to upload a few still images from the 2K scan? I would love to see what it really looks like. I definitely want to go anamorphic for the story I am telling with this film project. I don't have tons to spend, but anamorphic is a must. So you recommend the Hawk anamorphic lens? Is that a projector lens? I am still a little confused about anamorphic lenses, because now people are using anamorphic projector lenses on top of DSLRs, as a cheap alternative? Do you recommend this? Or to get a real anamorphic lens? This guy selling a Hawk on ebay, appears to be a projector lens. So I assume this is not the one you're talking about? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Panavision-Panatar-35mm-Anamorphic-Lens-RED-Isco-Iscorama-Hawk-Runco-Cinemascope-/280802571268?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4161233404#ht_3548wt_1141 If I wanted to go for a Gladiator, or Braveheart look, what kind of film stock do you recommend? I will be shooting 90% outdoors forest scenes, and some interior temple scenes. I told a rep at Fuji film this, and he recommend this new film, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GK1PvFdgM-g&feature=player_embedded But that film looks very crisp and sharp, which may or may not be a good thing. If I use the Konvas with that film, will it look like that Fuji film? If I use recanned short ends stock or older film will it look more like your film? Thanks for all your help!
  11. Hi, Can someone please let me know everything that's needed to get footage like this? I want to film 2:39 (2:35) aspect ratio. I will be doing a telecine to HD pro res video, will it be best to go to 1920x1080 with black bars at top and bottom? I can't contact the owner of the footage to ask him personally, so can we please break it down? What is needed if I buy a standard Konvas 1M or 2M? - Individual Anamorphic Prime's? Or an Anamorphic Zoom? What kind would fit this camera? - Buy and install an anamorphic gate? Take to a company in LA to do this? - Anything else needed? Special lenses or special telecine conversion? Also can you please let me know anything else about anamorphic? Anamorphic 101 in case I'm leaving anything out? - Should I convert the Konvas to 2 or 3 perf? Will this cost more or use more film or cost more at the processing or telecine stage? Any info would be appreciated, thank you! :)
  12. I want to shoot super8mm at 16x9, do some super8mm cameras shoot 16x9? Anyone care to start a list of super 8mm cameras that shoot 16x9? I am looking around on Ebay but the sellers usually dont know if they shoot 16x9 or 4x3, anywhere I can find specs on super 8mm cameras that say if they shoot 4x3 or 16x9? Thanks, I hope this list we compile is useful for those looking for the same setup!d
  13. This is all the info you need dude, check it out. http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=51526 Might as well say wow now.
  14. Hey Allyn, wow you shoud've asked me that question 3 months ago because there is a great film called "Sarah Langdon's Paranormal Hour" shot on the HVX-200, with the redrockm2 35mm lens adapter, nikkon lenses, and got theatrical distribution in over 2,000 theatres! It was a pre-teen Halloween type movie, not my cup of tea, but I saw it in the theatres for the cinematography and it looked great, blown up to 35mm print. The DP was around answering all types of questions at www.redrockmicro.com in the forum. Search for sarah langdon or something. Being said, I also am shooting my feature on this camera with the m2, and hope it goes theatrical. Hope that was a help. Ciaoo.
  15. Okay, so does a 28mm lens keep everything in focus always? If i want to shoot a landscape shot with someone walking in the foreground full frame from far away, would something be out of focus with the 28mm? I know a 35mm something has to be slightly out of focus, am I right?
  16. 24mm, doesnt that tend to bend straight lines?? I didnt even know they made those lenses. http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1&grp=5 I guess those are only new right, and I should go to ebay then for used, but I dont want scratches on my lens or mold or dust, kind of risky on ebay right?
  17. Hows it going. Im about to buy a fostx fr2-le field recorder, but thats a good $500. Anyone know of any generic, maybee usb driven high quality recorder for under $300? Something I can buy at radio shack, best buy? If not, guess expensive is the only way to go right? I could record straight to the camera, but that may interfere with my steadycam and crane work i think. I think I found a $300 recorder, does it do the basic stuff a fostex can do? Please advise. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...s_promot_widget
  18. I can buy 3 lenses for my m2 and hvx-200, I am buying all nikons still slr lenses fyi. What 3 would everyone recommend, I am shooting a feature with plenty of wide shots, and internal shots, the whole mix... Here is what I am considering; lense 1. f 2.8 28mm or f 1.4 35mm lense 2 and 3 f 1.4 50mm or f 2.0 85mm or f 2.5 105mm To me the the 28mm seems a bit slow at f 2.8, am I better off with a 35mm at 1.4? I really do need all the light I can get. Heres a link to all the nikkon lenses available. http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1&grp=5
  19. Waveform? How can you see this? On the camera in the settings? On a separate in field monitor? In post? What is the best in field monitor to deliver the most close to the actual image as possible? There are many 800x480 field monitors, though for shooting on the hvx-200 at 1080pa would that make sense, do i really need a 1920x1080 true line resolution monitor to really see what im getting? Thanks. What are some of your workflows for this, the 20" crt monitor and a tent is a great idea, are there any other solutions? Specific brands ? Links?
  20. Lets forget about costs for a minute. The first one can preview 1920 x 1280 native lines of resolution. http://pro.jvc.com/prof/attributes/feature...el_id=MDL101671 And Im shooting upside down technically with the m2 adapter. So I can easily flip the monitor, but cant have an on camera monitor as I wish! This second one, has 800 x 460 resolution, and can be flipped, but is close to 3,000 http://pro.jvc.com/prof/attributes/feature...p;feature_id=01 The third one is 800 x 460 as well, and is an onboard camera, I plan on doing several shots where I want to see each pixel, but can this cut it? Well its only 750.00. http://www.ikancorp.com/pages/monitors/v8000hd/index.htm I guess is there a on camera monitor out there thats 1920x1080 so i can actually see what Im shooting? If i use a 800x460 will edges be cut off or how will that work? Also does the hvx200 monitor is comes with mounted on the camera or the viewfinder provied 1920 x 1080 preview for each pixel? or is it 800x480 max? Thanks.
  21. Best Matt Box for hvx-200 and m2 lens adapter? I want to be able to adjust focus in the middle of shots, etc. Whats the cheapest, best mattbox to do this for this camera set up. Thanks.
  22. Im wondering if Halogen lights are an ideal solution for cheap lights for a feature film. They can be bought for under $20 at home depot, and give off a white light, sometimes followed by a blue tint, but I know florescent are out of the question, Im wondering about Halogen, is there anything unknown to the naked eye that could be seen at 1080i or 24p after capture? Thanks. Also what are other cheap lighting solutions, and Im not talking about low cost lighting kits, I mean bulbs bought at like Home Depot or flood lights from a hardware store. Thanks.
  23. Hey Andy how are you. I saw your film this past weekend because friend on another forum told me it was shot on the hvx and with Nikkon lenses. I was like, what? And its in the theatres? This was truely amazing work you did as the dp, excellent, this was quite inspiring. I did feel a little funny going to watch a pg movie though, but the story was great despite all the noise making teens in the room, I was one of them actually, ha. This truely inspired me, I was was always aiming for theatrical distribution as I am preparing to shoot next month, but now my confidence level just went up by a whole lot. I told my sister I wanted to contact the dp on this film for perhaps a little guidance, and she said yeah right, thinking dps and filmmakers are untouchable. Which is one thing very cool about you, you are sharing your, knowledge, and secrets with the world. 3 questions Andy, or to Andy's Camera asistant constantly pulling the focus's. 1. The m2 flips the image. How did you deal with this? You used an external monitor and just flipped the monitor right? Was it an HD monitor? Those run over $25,000 each right for a basic one? What type of monitor did you use? I heard you must use a HD Monitor. 2. And when people say an assistant must contantly pull focus, what does that mean? If the camera is steady, isnt it focused, therefore leave the focus alone? Or do they mean when the camera is in motion and the depth of field is changing, then you must adjust accordingly? 3. I bought the HD-m2 Nikkon bundle for 1295.00, M2 Cinema Lens Adapter it comes with Special M2 HD Achromatic lens 15mm Rod Support System - 18" Nikon SLR lens mount M2 Cinematographer's cap besides the lenses, are there anything else I might need? Do you recommend a matbox, or one of those accesories to adjust the focus without taking off the matbox? What is the setup you guys used, thanks. I also had a comment about the digital noise I saw in the film. It was there in the dark shadows, I have a trained eye, and it was also on their faces when lighting was low. And I was happy to see this, very happy. Why? Because do distributors let this go? They overlook digital noise, here we are discussing how to get rid of it, when it does not matter to theatrical distributors? I was pleased to see it, and my sister who has an untrained eye, noticed it as well, but it was not distracting to the story, she loved the story. My question is do you see that noise and pixelation on the monitor while your shooting, on the viewfinder, in the post house, after the 35mm print? Thanks... I only ask so many question because I wish to have success as you and your crew when I shoot my film entitled "One Story" next month. P.S - Thanks for coming by Andy and discussing this with us to help us out, this is an excellent community of pros. Clint Nitkiewicz Hernandez www.newelementproductions.com
  24. Thanks Micahel, Pete, and everyone else, this has been a great learning experience with you guys, thanks for my website compliment too! Go watch Sarah Landon's Paranormal Hour", shot on hvx200, in theatres now, they say it was shot with a m2 35mm lens adapter, at 720p, Im going to check it out for sure because its so similar to what I am doing. I think its only in select theatres though.
