  1. After months of hard work, late nights and excessive caffeine consumption, I am happy to announce the launch of my freshly redesigned photography website. The website features lots of new photography, including several recently published photo-essays from my ongoing “Matsuri” project about Japanese festivals. If you have a moment to spare, please feel free to take a look via the following link. Let me know what you think by leaving a thumbs-up or commenting below! Thank you ?

  2. Hi Folks, I’ve just spent the last few months rebuilding my photography website using Dreamweaver and Slideshow Pro. I’ve also added 2 new projects, which are listed under the headings Angkor and Underwater. I’ve tried to make the site nice and easy to navigate, and I’ve added captions. This is the first time that I’ve built a site using a CSS layout, rather than a standard HTML layout, so I’d appreciate any advice, feedback, constructive criticism, etc. Though photography is currently my main focus, I am also working towards becoming a camera operator. While at university, I was fortunate enough to work on several films by BA Film students at The University of Westminster and The London College of Communication. These films were predominately shot on s16mm Aaton and Arriflex cameras, using various types of film stock and lighting equipment. Now that I’ve gained some confidence as a photographer, I’m hoping to do much more cinematography work. So, if you are a filmmaker, writer or performer and you would like to work with me, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Here’s the link: www.thadpope.com Kind regards, Thaddeus
  3. Hi Chris, If you’re still in London and you want to go to the cinema, I’d recommend The Prince Charles (just of Leicester Square). It’s cool, its cheap (much cheaper than any other cinema in Central London), and they show decent movies. Some shows are £3 (or thereabouts), others can be more expensive – I’d recommend calling them before you go. This is their website: http://www.princecharlescinema.com/ If you want to visit a good photography gallery, you should head down to The Photographers Gallery - http://www.photonet.org.uk/ I’d recommend that you make time to visit The National Gallery, The National Portrait Gallery, The British Museum, The Victoria and Albert Museum, The Science Museum, The Natural History Museum, and Tate Modern and Tate Britain. There are many other galleries and museums in London, but these are my favourites. Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip. Regards, Thaddeus
  4. As someone just starting out, I’d say that Roger Deakins and Janusz Kaminski would be the two guys that I’d most like to learn from. However, off the top of my head, it’d also be very nice to work with and learn from Robert Yeoman, Slawomir Idziak, Lance Acord, and Brian Tufano. ;)
  5. Here’s a few more – some have been mentioned already, but are worth mentioning again. ;) The Wind That Shakes the Barley Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Slumdog Millionaire The Man Who Wasn't There Good Night and Good luck Road to Perdition Requiem for a Dream Control Mulholland Drive Chopper The Pianist Donnie Darko Amélie Sin City Kill Bill: Vol. 1 Billy Elliot City of God Oldboy Diving Bell and the Butterfly Pans Labyrinth The Royal Tenenbaums The Assassination of Jesse James No Country for Old Men There Will Be Blood Zodiac I’m looking forward to watching Gomorrah – I heard that the cinematography was pretty special.
  6. Here's a couple of my favourite images by Rene Burri.
  7. Yeah I probably went a bit overboard with my last post! I forgot to mention Cindy Sherman - who is most famous for the Untitled Film Stills series (1977-1980). Her work is extremely relevant to this question, so I think you should definitely check it out. If anyone's interested, here are a few links to some good photography websites. 9. Hi Daniel, Nice photos. Earlier this year I spent 1 month diving on Koh Lanta, and 1 month diving on Koh Tao, so it was good to see these pictures. Good job. While on holiday I shot about 40 rolls of Fuji Neopan with a Nikonos underwater film camera. It'll take me a few months to process the film and prepare the images for the web, but when I do I'll send you a link. All the best, Thaddeus
  10. Hi Folks, I’ve just redesigned and re-launched my photography website, so I’d appreciate any feedback, advice, constructive criticism, etc. I’ve tried to make it nice and easy to navigate, but there are still a few things that I would like to add (captions, for example). Here’s the link: http://www.thadpope.com/ Best Wishes, Thaddeus.
  11. Hi folks, I’m a young photographer with serious aspirations of becoming a cinematographer. I’ve just launched my new website (woohoo!), so I thought it’d be a good time to introduce myself. For examples of my photography, please visit www.thadpope.com Please check it out and let me know what you think. I’m a novice website designer so I’d appreciate any advice, feedback, constructive criticism, etc. I’ve tried to make it nice and easy to navigate, but there are still a few things that I would like to add (captions, for example). All the best, Thaddeus.
