  1. I have a quick question re: two cam setup. I have two black magic micros with sporting a speedbooster and a Sigma 18-35 and the other with a regular nikon mount and a Sigma 50-100. When shooting, which would you suggest: Having two cams on the same side capturing one actor - a mid and cu, or have the each cam setup on opposites to get both actors at the same time - a close up on one and a mid on the other? How would you go about doing it? Any suggestions?
  2. Hello, I'm shooting a bar scene in a week or two, and was looking for some inspiriation. Would anyone here have a movie that has a scene that takes place in a bar during the daytime? Because it was so recent, "Killing Them Softly" comes to mind, but that's about it. Screen grabs and or movie suggestions is fine.
  3. I have a short coming up I'm filming and there are 3 scenes that take place. Laundromat, Motel room and billiards. Do any of you's pre-light the scene the day before a something, so when actual filming takes place you'll have a really fast setup? I'm still learning lighting so I think being able to light the scene ahead of time will speed things up and get me more prepared. But what if you aren't able to? Do you just look at a location and and know right away how to light it?
  4. nice...that really helps a lot. i'll be going window screen shopping!
  5. just started reading this thread then looked the movie up. found this on imdb http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi1321861913/
  6. is there anything that can be used in place of a scrim for low budget film making? just to make sure i'm getting my lingo right. say i had a 650w and wanted to dim it down to 300w, i'd use a scrim right? would using fabric softer sheets dim the light as well as diffuse it? or just diffuse it?
  7. guess it did rather well for such a crummy movie.
  8. Not for the pro's, but it's good to get you started. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...=STRK:MESELX:IT
  9. appreciate all the replies. cutting and pasting all the stuff i'll need later on.
  10. thanks, all informative information. what kind of diffusion is that? i was thinking of buying white sheets or tracing paper. but paper catches on fire according to smokey the bear.
  11. I've been building my light kit little by little and realize A LOT of stuff is shot using fresnels. I can't afford fresnels, so where does that leave me? Am I still able to get by not having fresnels as my arsenal?
  12. thanks, should be plenty...for now. i'll give these a look.
  13. The suggestions were for me to watch, and get inspired, not list them because I think they're cool. All beside No country, I haven't seen before. It's okay, everyone makes an ass-umptions.
  14. Are there any movies you can suggest that will have any of the listed scenes below I can check out? Links would be appreciated. int. laundromat - night int. motel - night (very small, 1 bed at night) For laundromat I can think of Shop girl and 40days and 40nights. For motel, I can't think of anything. The best that comes to mind is Vacancy. Something small, ugly, rundown.
  15. I'm wanting to get on set and learn from behind the scenes on sets if anyone here has something available. Be willing to lend a helping hand, but more so, wanting to see lighting setups. Not looking for any pay, just an experience. Please let me know if you've got something available. I'm pretty handy hauling stuff around and what not.
  16. Friendly bump, haven't been here in a while. Anyone interested can reach me at Rich.Hibner@gmx.com
  17. is it possible to get an adapter to plug this into a wall or generator?
  18. I just recently purchased a Mole Richardson 2k light, but have no idea what kind of plug it came with. I upped some pics for you guys to look at along with the light. Is there an adapter? Have you ever seen this? What do I need to do to fire this light up....thanks
  19. Awesome man. Glad you responded back. Email me back at f1lm3r@gmail.com and we can keep in touch through there.
  20. Any Dp's around that are willing to work together on small projects for credits? I have access to lights and equipment and know how to light to some degree, but would rather focus on directing. I'm willing to barter services as well. I can edit, work as a grip(i want to learn more on lighting) and have a great deal of graphic design skill.
  21. "Chuck" is shot with 16mm http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0934814/technical
  22. i'd be pretty upset considering they listed two others guys as the DP
