  1. oh no, i agree. It would have a lot of advantages. If the HDMI output was clean uncompressed HD.
  2. the 7d and the 5d don't output a clean uncompressed HDMI signal any ways... so you would be getting an SD signal which is technically a down conversion from the native H.264 compression. Thats why you would try rock this with an EX3 instead. In which case you can get 180Mb/s @ 4:2:2. check it out here: http://philipbloom.co.uk/2009/10/12/conver...igns-nanoflash/
  3. Hi all, I am shooting two shorts in about a month as part of my degree. I am studying cinematography in South Africa. I am shooting on the AG-HMC154ER because it is supplied by my university for free :D I wanted to know if it would be wise to get a lens adapter for the cam so i can use primes instead of the zoom that it is fitted with? will i be able to get a shallower depth of field if I get faster lenses? Thanks, Rusty
  4. Hi hi, I am shooting a 5 minute short in about a weeks time. I am in my second year at AFDA film school in South Africa. I have a lot of night shots that are taking place in a small Namibian village's main road and the other location is a bakery interior day and night. The short is based in the late 1950's in Namibia and its a musical. I want to work together with my production designer to achieve a specific look. My references for shot structure and camera movement is "Darjeeling Ltd." and for lighting there is a mix but for the road a would like to use a shot from "A long voyage Home" - Greg Tolland ASC. I am shooting on the Panasonic AG-HMC154ER. In my lighting inventory i only have 2 blondes. 3 redheads and maybe a 2.5k HMI. I might get a soft box for one of the blondes as well. If anyone has suggestions or tips or anything. Perhaps some gear that i should look at getting in order to achieve the style. Thanks, Rusty
