  1. Has anyone put their hands on one of those Edgertronic cameras? I'm interested on buying one, but it's always good to learn form someone with previous experience. Cheers; Arturo
  2. Hey, thanks a lot Rakesh and Phil, I've known Nimia, but Pond5 seems to have some nice stuff;-) Richard, it's not that Getty is bad, only I wish there were something with a modern profile, better curated, in shape with my usual work. There are some nice scenes, but they are like 10% of all they have there. Thanks for your input anyway. If anyone else has more choices, keep sending them! Or let's make one;-)
  3. Hi fellows; as it happens from time to time, I'm asked to complete a low low budget project with stock image video...and Im always stoked to see how badly the video choices from Getty and Shutterstock still are these days. Does anyone knows of an nicely photographed, curated, acted, image bank? Thanks for your input! Cheers; Arturo
  4. Great advice from the master;-) Thanks, David, I think that will do. I think I'll use the day sky as it is, since the awkward effect is interesting on a 'vampire world'. Cheers; Arturo
  5. Hi; I'm about to shoot a commercial with some angels and vampires set outside a location. My idea is to shoot day for night, as the strangeness of the result could be a good asset in this film. The plan is to shoot on a RED One and a few HMI lights. Any advices or concerns from any of you that has done it before? All the best! Arturo Querzoli
  6. Hey, this is a great topic and I think people should add info on it! Thank you for what's already posted, and be sure I'll add on as problems/ solutions come up;-)
  7. Spain is really a strange market for this kind of equipment... If you are in Barcelona, I'd go to Nivel10, (http://www.nivell10.com/) close to Plaza Catalunya. Or else, if you're looking into buying panasonic stuff, check Salvador Serra (http://www.salvadorserra.com/), since they "represent" Panasonic in Barcelona... But don't even try to compare any european store with BH! If you're in Madrid, call those places to see if they have any known store in Madrid.. Good luck! You'll miss the flying merchandise for sure...
  8. I was looking at the new Sony cams on this link: http://digitalcontentproducer.com/hdhdv/de...0101/index.html ..and they seem to be great cameras. I'm a HVX200 user, but may be the time to change manufacturer...or not? Concerning the price range, the cheap flash cards, the bundled "Firestore FS100" recorder... Tell me what you think! Ks, Arturo
  9. It's recording 60 fps in the 24P mode (not "N"). It's not very difficult that I've rewritten data in the camera functions, since the hack is only done on an SD card under the user files, which not only I've done before without problems but also can be reset to factory settings on the camera menu. I tried all the options but nothing works. Maybe I should reset the whole system.... but thanks for your input! Arturo
  10. Got a huge problem which I've never heard of: analyzing today's documentary footage I found that suddenly my HVX200 NTSC is recording everything at 59.94 fps, despite of being set up at 720/24p and having the frame rate at 24. The camera was set up by myself and I've been shooting at 24 for 2 months without problem. The only unusual thing I did lately was to hack one of the user files to shoot at 2 fps using this hack: http://panasonic.sixbullets.net/hvx200-framerate-hack.htm I've used the hack before and did not have problems, and I already reset the user files to standard settings, but the problem remains. The viewfinder shows I'm shooting at 24p. I'm getting crazy! Any suggestions?? Thanks a lot, Arturo Querzoli Director/ DoP Sao Paulo/ Barcelona/ London
  11. Hey, On my first upgrade to 1st AD, I was wondering if everyone makes their call sheets oganized in the same way. If anyone there could post some example of their own call sheet version, it would help me a bunch, since I'm working in severall countries with different cultures and ways to do things. ...oh, and by the way, does anyone knows about any "film-specific" dictionary on line? Like, how do I tell an arab producer what a panther is whithout showing a picture? Kisses, Art
  12. Heya. I'm from Brazil, lived in US, now in Spain and know about shooting in many other places; the best advice would be to have a partner production company (service) in each country you plan to shoot. Of course they will make some money out of you, but the time and money you would spend on permits, locations, extra casting, equipment rental and, mostly, taxes and money managemenrt.... it would be very worthwhile. Good luck, Art
  13. Hola! I just arrived in Barcelona and it would be really damn great if I find people that work with cinema and TV around here to exchange some information. I have some interesting projects to work on, products to show, work to find... well, there are enough questions for some pretty large emails! Gracias, Arturo.
  14. Merci, Jean-Marie! I guess everyone I ask will say "the market is very tight", mostly because it's true in all countries I know. The thing is, if it's hard to find work, you have to be better skilled, or better yet, you have to know the right people to secure a place in this industry... But, anyway, thank you again for you answer. Hope to see you someday in Paris! Arturo
  15. I'm a brazilian filmmaker moving next month to Barcelona, Spain. Of course, I'm looking for any kind of info about finding work over there, as well as in Spain's neighbors, France and Portugal. Does anyone have any experience/ information/ job offer/ hint - to give me??? Huh??? Huh??? I just hope not to regret the fact that I'm closing my own small production company here, giving up on some nice projects and contacts to live la buena vida espaƱola.... Thanx!! Arturo Querzoli
