This is my first post and just wanted to share a video short I was the cinematographer for and hopefully get some feedback/pointers. Jerry Zucker directed this short starring Bob Saget. While most of my experience pertains to lighting rather than camera operating, I had a lot of fun working on this one.
Please forgive me if I can't remember all the facts, I shot this about a year and a half ago.
Most of the kudos should go to the post-production side for this one, for all the work they did cleaning it up. We weren't able to shoot on a stage due to the car not being able to fit through the studio doors. This was a low budget short. Bob was shot outside in the car against 10x20 chroma green painted flats. The entire car was canvased with duvetyne and 4 by floppies to eliminate and glare from the sun on the windshield and spill.
This was shot on a canon xl h1(front window plate) and jerry-rigged on the back of 2 golf carts speeding through the streets of culver city hitting random stunt professionals/actors. The rear plate (back windshield) was shot with a sony z1u on the second golf cart. I did my best to match both shots. Bob used these as references/visual cues when we shot him in the car the next day.
Lighting was fairly simple. That day, we were lucky and the sun was overcast so we were able to have the green flats evenly lit throughout the day. In the car I had a 4x4 kino in the back seat with daylight tubes and used another 4x4 kino and a Baby w/ 3/4 CTB for bobs key and fill. You can tell the right side of his face has a bit of a greenish tinge, which is from the baby - I wanted a little difference in temperature and I think its a bit too much.
I know you have to suspend your believe a bit to think these hits are actually real, but it goes well with the slapstick mentality. I had a great time shooting it and working with Jerry.
