  1. I'm looking into adapting various optics to my Beaulieu 6008S super 8 camera and I found following Pentax industrial lens which I would love to try out and use: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/341297-REG/Pentax_C60812_C60812_8mm_to_48mm.html Now before I go ahead and buy this lens just to find out it won't fit, I want to know if this cmount is the same thread/size and will fit my camera? There is no information on the sales page regarding the mount thread size or anything, actually from the picture it doesn't even look like it has a screw mount.

  4. I have too many rigs and parts on hands that are not used often enough to justify keeping them. All of the gear is 100% working and in good condition. There is normal wear on the used items as one would expect. There are also a few items brand new and still unused. As for the Zacuto gear, there is a lifetime warranty which is transferable! I have the same listing up on dvxuser btw, the original prices have already come down quite much, these are priced to sell but I'm willing to give a further discount if one would buy several items at the same time. Prices exclude shipping. I ship by fully insured and traceable EMS Speedpost airmail express from Hong Kong where I live and work. Here goes the list: Zacuto gear: 1. Zacuto Target Shooter (Price new: US$ 475): Selling for US$ 309 2. Universal Baseplate V3 with 11" rods (Price new: US$ 560): Selling for US$ 389 3. 5. Thanks Chris this is very helpful, so I was right after all on the 125asa mark.
  6. OK, I'm not a newbie to photography and filming, however I simply can't wrap my head around this issue. I have a Beaulieu 6008s and Kodak Vision 2 200T film stock which is balanced for tungsten lighting. I will be shooting a short film very soon with both in and outdoor scenes. I understand that for outdoor scenes I have to use a 85/85B filter and the 200T will be rated at 125 ASA. The only thing which I can't figure out is which stop on the ASA adjustment wheel on the 6008s is ASA125. Can't find any valid information on this in the manual, it's just not described what ASA speeds the stops are which are not labeled. To make this more clear, the ASA dial has markings for ASA 12, 20, 40, 80, 160 and 400. From ASA 12 to 160 there are two additional marked stops in between each full stop, from ASA 160 to 400 there are three additional stop markings in between. Does that mean 1/3rd stop increments and 1/4th stop increments? If so it would mean that 1 mark before ASA 160 is ASA 125. Is that correct or am I totally off?
  7. The GoPro has no monitor, I don't know if you can output a signal to a monitor but if so that might work and possibly a dozen of other similar cameras. There are enough options, that's why I was asking if someone here on the board has used any on them and can share their experience how well it works. I would really like to hear about some setups people are actually using, not suggestions which hardware might do the trick.
  8. Dude, how could you not see my thread, it's on the first page and there are numerous replies already.
  9. For ease of mounting I think a bullet/lipstick camera is the best option. The video tap on that Beaulieu looks interesting, does anyone know which camera it is?
  10. I'm going to shoot a short on Super 8 (Agfa Movexoom 6) and there will be several shots where I can't look through the viewfinder (some steadycam and action shots) so I need external monitoring. I was thinking about getting some small video camera, pov camera or the like and somehow mount it to the Agfa Movexoom. Has someone tried this yet? If so with what camera and what result?
  11. I agree, unfortunately horror (horror/comedy) doesn't get the masses to the theaters. When I recently, after many years, started again to read Fangoria I was even surprised as I saw recently there are more and more horror movies coming back to theaters that are backed by major studios. I'd like to see more of that. JB is not yet screening here in Hong Kong, but I'll see it as soon as it's opening. Looking forward to it too, from what I've seen from the trailer it looks great. Awesome work David, don't be concerned too much, you did a great job!
  12. Thanks for your info Jacob. I already bought a Sankyo XL620 which uses the said beam splitter. At least I get wide open DOF preview, better than a rangefinder where you get "nothing". I wanted to go with a Beaulieu first but didn't want to spend so much for my first Super 8 camera. The Leicina's were very tempting since I have lots of M glass but they don't seem to shoot 24fps which stopped me from buying.
  13. I recently purchased a pair IDX Endura 10S batteries, just got them by UPS and one of them doesn't look like new. It has cuffs and marks all over, look for yourself. Alone from the fact that the second one looks way better I'm assuming I got a second hand or refurbished one but I paid for a new one. Before I complain at the shop I'd like to hear your opinions on this, thanks in advance.
  14. That's the spirit. Post it when it's done :)
  15. The good thing, Robert, is that when you shoot a stop motion film you can have a very controlled environment, you will shoot on a stable tripod and you can use the longer focal lengths with aperture wide open to get some shallow DOF.
  16. I agree, you definitely won't get shallow DOF at F4 with Super 8. I would also reconsider renting lights, stop motion is very time consuming so even for a short movie it will take you a long time to do and you could save some money with lights you have at home. For example a desk lamp, pocket light etc. try experimenting before you rent expensive professional lights.
  17. I have checked the whole lot of Super 8 websites, including that one but couldn't find anyone mentioning what kind of viewfinder is used. Or I didn't see the forest because of all the trees? :) Thanks Peter, that info helps a lot.
  18. Double that. Prices are inflated, especially for their made over cameras. I inquired about mailing film internationally and about my worries of film getting exposed by xray, they just replied me a generic, should be fine. After another question I didn't even get any reply anymore, I wouldn't want to do business with them.
  19. I'm currently looking for a Super 8 camera too, I found quite a handful of shops besides ebay, but their prices are not really cheaper. On the other hand you can assume to get a 100% working or serviced camera from such a shop. I was into the market of a Super 8 camera (mostly Canon 1014 XL) almost exactly one year ago and although my memory is not the best I'm quite sure the said Canon was more or less the same like it is now.
  20. I am going to buy a Super 8 camera soon, there are so many out there and I have noticed that most of them use split image focusing. What I couldn't find out for most of the cameras that I'm interested in is if you get a live view of the image so you can evaluate the DOF before/when shooting. If you look at the specs of cameras in this shop: http://super8arena.com/nikon-r10-super-zoom-1-p-164.html you will see it says rangefinder which I associate with rangefinder cameras where you are looking through plain glass and not the lens and can't evaluate DOF. Is that the same for Super 8 cameras?
  21. Ok, guess I'll be returning those 80 minute tapes and keep searching for the Pana 60 minute version. Makes sense with the thinner tape. Thank you.
  22. Brandon, I am in Hong Kong and my HVX200 has multilingual interface, I am pretty sure that Chinese and Japanese versions also have multi languages. Though I would be very very careful about buying from China, there are many frauds selling these cameras for cheap. I paid around US$ 4,800 and figure that it won't be much cheaper in China.
  23. I wanted to buy the 60 minutes version but they were out of stock. I'll try and contact Panasonic about this. the 80 minute tapes I bought are the same pro type, just 80 minutes.
  24. That's what I was thinking, I don't see any reason why they can't be used but still I don't want to risk and damage the tape drive. On the other hand, they write following: "Use the following miniDV cassette tapes with this camera-recorder. AY-DVM63 series tape (60 minutes in sp mode) Do not use 80-minute DV cassette tapes" So you should only use AY-DVM63 Pana tapes, huh?? Is it a marketing thing, it appears as they want people only buy the pro Panasonic tapes and maybe the 80 minutes pro Panasonice tapes weren't on the market when the manual was printed? That's the only logical thing I can think of. And the shop clerk didn't mention anything regarding use of 80 minute tapes but I guess he doesn't have that much knowledge about the camera in the first place.
  25. I know that you can use tape on the HVX200 but my question was/is if anyone is "safely" using 80 minute tapes because Panasonic explicitly states in the manual that you shoud NOT use 80 minute tapes.
