Are they all straight NDs or are any of them IR as well?

If you need a really punchy flashlight for not a lot of money check out the LED Defender by Surefire. Budget constraints are the only reason I wouldn't shoot RED - it's a far superior camera to 7D. In this case though, it was ultra-low budget and we own a 7D, so that's why we used it. That being said, the quality of the 7D impresses me every time I shoot with it. It's a joy to work with and you can get great results if used correctly. I believe it was 12 rehearsals and 10 takes.

I confirmed that it was rated at 640 ISO.

It more than surpassed my expectations, and we're still getting used to it and figuring out the best settings. I agree about your color correction comment - a process we are still learning and working on. I believe we shot at 1240 ISO (although it very well could have been 640), 24p, 1/50 shutter. No filters. We had minimal lights to work with, thus the high ISO.

Im trying to find software that will let me come up with a top-down view of camera and lighting setups. Helpful items would be to show dolly track or camera movement. Doesnt have to be 3d or animated or anything, just something simple. Does this exist? Thanks

Hi everyone- I've been lurking in the background on this forum for quite some time and I've found so much helpful information and insight so I thought I would share my own work. http://www.vimeo.com/1382355 This short was written, shot, edited and finished over the course of 48 hours. It was shot on a HVX200, Letus35 Extreme, Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 and a basic Smith Victor light kit. I'm specifically looking for constructive criticism on lighting, framing, etc. that is directly related to the cinematography aspect on the short. The story itself didn't make much sense to me, but then again, I didn't stay up all night writing it. Any advice is appreciated. After several years of working on videos and films more or less as a hobby, I decided to bring it up a level and really develop myself as a DP. I've also shot a pilot for a vampire TV series and am currently working on another short film, trying to get that demo reel together. I'm looking forward to doing this for a living and hopefully working with many Boston-area filmmakers. D
