  1. Hi, I just have a quick simple question. Can I use double 8 film "25 ft spool" in a vintage double sproket 16mm camera. I know it will only expose 25 feet but I just want to shoot some film in a couple hand crank cameras I picked up off Ebay. The double sprokets on the old cameras line up pefectly with the standard double 8 film. I just need to know if I tell the process company to expose it as 16mm and not split it, if I will have any results worthy of the effort. I figure it's worth a try. I like to think out of the box and have fun with it. Thanks for any advice! Dave
  2. Hi Saul, Thanks for your information about the spools for the Vitascope. I'm sure the 50' daylight spools will work in this camera. I'd love to just shoot a few for posterity reasons and for self satisfaction. I definately am interested in the rolls of 7218 that your friend has. I will gladly take them off his hands if the price is right. Please let me know what he wants for them. I also apologize about the caps. I was not trying to be a smart ass. Guess I have cabin fever and capped the first letters without thinking of others. I do apologise! Dave
  3. Thanks Charlie, The Camera Did Not Have A Take Up Spool In It. The Hole Size For A 25ft Double 8 Spool Is A Tad Too Small, It Will Not Go Over The Spindle. The 100 Foot 16mm Spool Hole Is The Right Size But The Diameter Of The Spool Is Way Too Big For The Camera. I Tried Threading A Length Of Old Double 8 Film In The Camera And It Fits Perfectly In The Double Perf Sproket Teeth. Do You Think I Could Use A Spool Of Double 8 Film And Just Enlarge The Hole A Tad? It Is Definately A 16mm Because The Lens Window Is The Exact Same With As The Film. This Camera Must Have Taken A 50ft Spool Of 16mm From What I Can Tell. Dave
  4. Hello Everyone, I Have Cleaned And Oiled My Vintage Vitascope 16mm Cine Camera And Am Ready To Try To Shoot Some Footage With It As A Maden Voyage. To My Dismay, I Have Found That This Camera Takes A Reel Diameter Size Of A Double 8mm Film Spool. A Standard 16mm Reel Is Way To Large To Be Inserted On The Spindle. I Was Going To Be Slick And Use A Reel Of Double 8mm 25ft, But That Hope Faded Fast When I Found That A Double 8mm Reel's Spindle Hole Is Too Small To Fit Over The Spindle Without Boring The Hole Out Bigger Ect. Does Anyone Know A Practical Solution To My Problem? Does Anyone Supply 50ft Reels Of 16mm Film? Can I Use Double 8 Which Is 16mm And Modify The Spindle Hole To Drill It Out The The Larger Size? My Next Hurdle Would Be If The Double 8 Films Perf Hole Would Line Up? Thanks For Any Light On This Subject. Dave
  5. Greetings All, I just accuired a QRS/Devry Model B 16mm camera off EBAY in excellent condition. Would anyone have any information or background on this camera? I think it is one of the most unique and neatest vintage cameras I have found. Any history or operational information on it would be greatly appreciated. Dave :D
  6. Thank You Ira For Your Helpful Information. I'm Still A Bit In The Dark About How I Would Filter The Pinhole. Dave
  7. Hi, Does Anyone Know Where I Might Be Able To Obtain A Copy Of An Instruction Manual For A Vintage Vitascope Hand Cranked 16mm Movie Camera? Dave
  8. Hi What Company Can Process Kodak Ektachrome 7255 16mm Film? Thanks Much For Any Help David
  9. Thank You Will! I appreciate your straight forward answer to the best of your knowlege. Thank you also for the tip on Wittner. You have opened a couple new doors for me on the camera and the film. Best wishes for the New Year! Dave :D
  10. Happy New Year To All! Just A Quick Post For Info. I Just Purchased A B&H 311 Super 8 Camera Off EBAY In Excellent Condition. I want to shoot Black & White With It Primarily But Is There Any Chance 64T Color Could Be Used With Tweaking Or Faking Out The Camera's Auto Exposure Device To Give Any Acceptable Results? I'm New At This And Love Experimentation Of The Impossible....:) I Figure There Is Always A Way To Get Around Problems That Most Say Are Impossible to Solve. That Is Why We Have Sites Like This With Sharp People Who Love The Challenge Of Attempting To Beat The Odds On Restoring Classics Of The Past. Any Advice Will Be Greatly Appreciated! Dave
  11. Hi, I have two rolls of Kodak Ektachrome 160 Color Super 8 Film That I Recently Shot Footage On For A Classic Washed Out Look. I Sent Them To Dwaynes Unaware That They Do Not Handle That Type Of Process Of The 160. One Roll Is 1979 And The Other Is 1985 I Believe, On Expiration Dates. I've Priced Rocky Mountian And Film Rescue , Close To $50.00/ Roll . Are There Any Other Companies That Might Be Able To Give Me A Better Deal On Prcocessing These Older Films? Any Help Or Suggestions Will Be Much Appreciated. Dave
  12. Thank You Charlie!!! It all makes perfect sense now. I knew in the back of my mind that the dial was made to be adjusted because of how it was set up inside the camera. My first instinct was that the dial was stuck or gummed up but figured it would be able to lossened with minimal effort. I thought about using plyers cusioned with a rag but knew that would probably end up a disaster. I'm going to soak the assembly like you suggest and am confident now that I will have success even if I have to knock the pin out. I guess what you don't know can hurt you! I did take Charles advice too and marked the govenor linkage posistion as I originally found it so I can match it up to the original mark it was set to on the speed dial. I will let you know how I make out Charlie and thank you so much for taking the time to help me out with the diagrams and all. Much appreciated! Dave
  13. Thanks Charles. I know that the govenor linkage moves freely only after the knob is removed from the linkage. The outer knurled knob is supposed to move around the inner disc that has the markings on it for the speeds. It does not. It appears to be one solid piece. I'm not a camera expert by any means but I am very mechanically inclined and I see no way that this knob can rotate and move the govenor slider arm linkage unless you turn the whole knob by loosening the screw on the linkage from inside the camera housing. The outer knurled knob has to be able to rotate around the inner marked section because the shaft is secured by a forked clip that will not allow it to turn. Did B & H install fixed 16 exp/sec knobs on some 70-DR models that could not be changed?
  14. Hi, Hope Someone Can Answer My Question. I Just Got A B & H Filmo 70-DR Off EBAY. Camera Is In Excellent Condition. Everything Appears To Be In Premium Operating Order. I Cannot Move The Exposure Dial At All. I Removed It From The Slider Arm And Lubricated The Inside Of The Dial After I Took Off The Two Front Screws And Removed The Front Disc With The Speed Markings On It. The Exposure Bar Moves Back And Forth Inside The Camera But However I Try To Turn The Knurled Outer Rim Of The Adjustment Wheel, It Will Not Budge!. The Dial Appears To Be "Locked" On 16 exp/sec. My Question is, Did Bell & Howell Make A 70-DR With A Fixed Exposure Dial That Could Not Be Changed By Turning The Outer Knurled Dial. With The Dial In My Hand Out Of The Camera, I Don't See How This Wheel Would Be Alowed To Turn. It All Looks Like One Piece. Am I Missing Something Here? I Could Use A Little Help. Thanks! Dave
  15. :( Hi, I Have A B & H Filmo 70-DR And Need To Know How Of If I Can Change The Exposure Settings On The Camera. The Instructions That Came With The Camera Are For A 70-DL, -S Or -H, Not A 70-DR. It States That You Can Adjust The Speed Adjustment Dial To The Desired Exposure /Sec Setting. I Cannot Turn The Dial At All. Does Film Have To Be Loaded In The Camera? It Looks Like You Should Be Able To Adjust The Setting From What I Saw Inside The Film Chamber But The Dial Will Not Budge. It Is Set For 16 Exposures/Sec. My Question Is, Is The Dial Frozen Or Can The Speed Be Adjusted On The 70-DR As On The 70-DL, -S Or -H? Any Advice Will Be Greatly Appreciated. DaveSpeed Adjustment Dial Will Not Turn
