  1. Thanks. The shaky shots were down to me travelling and not having a tripod, but i agree. the light leaks...i personally like them but I guess I overdo them :P. And more lit stuff I agree with, i'm just starting out so hopefully I'll have more opportunities in the future. Thanks for the feedback, sorry you didn't like it :)
  2. Hey all. I made a showreel and seeing as i love cinematography, I thought it would be nice to get some feedback from you guys. 99.9% was shot on a hv30...some with an SGpro. Comments welcome! http://vimeo.com/19453994
  3. I would be interested in seeing the before and after grabs ;)
  4. wow......so great. Your work reminds me of stuff by the likes of Tony Williams. If you havn't checked out next of kin, i think you would enjoy it. Heres a link to show you what i am talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFq4wgyXQ40 I was so sure that was shot on film as well, looked really nice. How did you create the old filmstock like colours? Also where abouts are you based, what uni do you attend? Again, great job man.
  5. Yeah sure. Here is my puny hv30 with a 35mm vibrating adapter with a rubbish mic attatched: Am hoping to upgrade to maybe a rail system because i might want a follow focus or mattebox in the future. I do like this set up as it is nice and small and just about does the job for me :) btw, how would i go about getting charts? Do i buy them or is it possible to print them yourself? cheers
  6. Ok. As i have said, i simply just wanted to shoot something short and simple, testing the DOF adapter with a new lens, a diy dolly and colour grading. I don't think i can achieve this by shooting charts, (although i agree, the results would be useful to me, that wasn't the first thing i wanted to do). I also wanted to test my skills at colour grading (as again, i am pretty new to MB looks). At first, you told me to go shoot something more interesting, perhaps you find charts more interesting and i'm sure, i will get around to doing it soon when i get my new adapter but wasn't the first thing i would have thought to shoot. Is that the first thing you run out to do when you recieve new equipment? Perhaps, but thats not me. Also, this forum is critique my work, not critique my charts...(or so i thought) I have to disagree with you here, i doubt anyone would have understood your first post no matter how high their technical knowledge, but perhaps i am wrong... Despite this, i do appreciate your input and will take your advice and shoot some charts fairly soon. And i apologize for sounding like i have an attitude.
  7. Being a smart ass? I was doing no such thing, i just didn't understand your first comment. Perhaps if you explained it a little better, i would have. "Make the dolly move"? That obviously makes no sense. Also, 'other shots without vibration', that confused me as i am using a vibrating adapter so i figured you were referring to that. And of course i am looking for honest feedback, just some feedback that has been written with a shred of intelligence. Again, if you read the description, you would see i have mentioned about the grain pattern and yes, the dolly is rather problematic, it was a diy one (which maybe i should have mentioned) Again, this was just a test, my next videos will of course contain an array of different subjects which i hope for people to find 'interesting'. And i was testing colour using MB looks, but perhaps you don't mean grading when saying 'colour tests'? (if not, explain) Also focus patterns, what do you mean? Like rack focus? If so, i included it in the test, if not, explain. Remember, i am kind of new to this, so i won't immediately know what you mean with certain terms. I didn't mean to write with an 'attidude' and am sorry it came out that way, but calling me a 'smart ass' isn't a very mature response. So please, by all means, tell me how i can improve my video, just type it in understandable English and don't mention things that i have already said or included in the video. Tell me whats wrong with the colour, tell me if the editing didn't work, tell me how the lighting is bad, tell me how i can improve camera movement, tell me the music didn't work, tell me what YOU would have done different (given my circumstances). I am here to learn, not to be a 'smart ass' and being told to "go do something more interesting", thats not exactly constructive criticism is it??
  8. Hi Steve i am also new here :) you should check these threads, they contain info on fitting Anamorphic lenses to HV20/30s. http://www.hv20.com/showthread.php?t=10500...ight=anamorphic http://www.hv20.com/showthread.php?t=7498&...ight=anamorphic http://www.hv20.com/showthread.php?t=12694...ight=anamorphic
  9. Very cool vid. I think i saw them play that on Jools Holland the other week? Can i ask what you shot it on, it looks real nice. And as for the anamorphic flares, they look prety sweet too, nice job man. Edit: That link didn't work for me, but this did: http://www.pulsefilms.co.uk/vid/daryl/cage_oneear.html
  10. Well if you read the description in the video, i am testing the dof adapter, dolly, lenses, the camera itself, pretty much everything. I don't know what you mean by make the dolly move?...the dolly was moving, thats what dollies do. Please explain, and what do you mean by 'other shots without vibration'? And like i said, it was a real quick test, so i just shot the easiest, most accessible thing - my bro on the laptop. What would you find interesting btw?
  11. Yeah, i do agree, but i cant seem to be able to find the option to purchase vantage blue, are they for rent only? Anyways, i bought a streak filter for about £2.50, ($5), it was too cheap to pass up. Even if i find the effect rubbish, it doesn't matter as it was so cheap.
  12. Here is a quick video i made and i attempted to include a fake anamorphic lens flare using magic bullet (at around the 00:19 mark). Tell me what you guys think. http://www.cinematography.com/forum2004/in...showtopic=34129
  13. Hi there, just thought i'd post something i filmed a couple of months ago (the first thing i have filmed with my camera) It was just a quick test, tell me what you think. Thanks! http://www.vimeo.com/1592414
