  1. Hey everyone, I just got sponsored by a company who wants me to be there Director of Social Media. I will be their host and tape at a lot of events. (basically being mobile and interviewing/talking to people). He asked me to let him know what HD camera and lighting we should buy There are two options: (DOESN'T HAVE TO BE SONY) 1. Money is no concern - we want the most high quality equipment * What HD camera should the company buy 2. Cost effective model - we're trying to save money * What HD camera should the company buy Can you guys let me know what you recommend for the two options? I've been looking at the Sony XR500V for a low cost option. what do you think of that one? (I've just been using a regular DV camera and a really old mic so I don't know too much about this stuff). Thanks soooo much!

  3. Hey everyone, I just got sponsored by a company who wants me to be there Director of Social Media. (basically staying mobile/stationary and interviewing/talking to people) I will be their host and tape at a lot of events. He asked me to let him know what HD camera we should buy, mic, and lighting. There are two options: 1. Money is no concern - we want the most high quality equipment * What kind of lighting should the company buy?- (needs to be unobtrusive + be stationary and able to stand on its own) 2. Cost effective model - we're trying to save money * What kind of lighting should the company buy?- (needs to be unobtrusive + be stationary and able to stand on its own) I'm mainly concerned with how big of a crew I'd need to manage the lighting equipment and lighting people when I'm on the move versus being stationary. Can you guys let me know what you recommend for the two options? (I've just been using a regular DV camera and a really old mic so I don't know too much about this stuff). Thanks soooo much!
  4. Hi, I need help calibrating the Panasonic DVX100. I do not have the option of using a monitor so I just need to make sure that it's calibrated correctly IN CAMERA. So how do I do that? I found the color bars but I don't know where to go from there. Is that even possible? My idea was that I should connect it into the computer I will be using and calibrate both the camera and the computer monitor - that way, the colors match when editing. Any ideas? Thanks
  5. ooh, the green gel in front of the lens to white balance sounds a lot easier
  6. hey, thanks so much, white balancing with something pink works. i'm going to have to find something really light pink to get the light green tint i wanted. i remember some people saying how using gels would work too. which one would you guys advise?
  7. Oh, and I actually wanted some of the flicker that people sometimes get with these lights. I was messing with the shutter speed but i couldn't get any flicker. Is this possible either? If not, i'm just going to get the flicker another way. thanks!
  8. Hi, So i have these 4100 K fluorescent lights, and I want to use them so that on camera the white balance has a slight green tint to it. I'm using a Panasonic DVX100 and I'm using fluorescent lights because I know they're naturally green looking on camera. Problem is, I can't figure out how to get the green tint. (Some of these questions might sound basic but I figured I'd ask since I really don't know how to go about this): - Am I still supposed to white balance with something white to get that tint? - Or am I supposed to white balance with something of another color? - I've been doing this with my WB button on A and using the ATW button for a custom white balance and it's weird because it seems like the WB tends to change a bit after I set it. (Example = sometimes I'd get the greenish look I'd want but it would slowly change and the green look would disappear) - Lastly, is this even possible for these lights? Or is my only option getting gels? And if so, what kinds of gels? Thanks so much, I've been trying to figure this out for a few days now.
