  1. Hey guys, Just thought I'll start a thread for all of us to update on our application status at NFTS. Post thoughts, status, showreels and anything else that has anything to do with this year's application. The nail-biting-call-waiting-head-scratching season has officially begun.
  2. Congrats MATT!!! I saw your website and quite obviously you earned it! Hope you get in. Waiting for a call myself... I was wondering if you exactly had what you had submitted online? Did you make a short reel out of all of those or did you send in segments? And all you other lurkers... Fuel this thread!!!! with your thoughts, feelings, reels and sweet nothings!!!
  3. COME ON! REVIVE THIS THREAD GUYS! I Know a lot of you've applied and are waiting for results... Live these weeks through the thread please :)
  4. How is cinematography at nyfa? I'm planning to apply for it but I'm a little afraid because of its short duration and its cost. I feel it'll rush past me and before I know it, I'd be a lot poorer. But maybe it's actually good. Please give details on your experiences.
  5. This is one of the best threads out here in the forum. It's fantastic to see all the posters in various stages - pre-application, pre-interview and finally speaking as fellows. I think since the fall deadline has passed, it's time for all the aspiring 2010-11 applicants to come out and discuss their applications, chances and showreels. Let's keep with the tradition and revive the thread.
  6. NYFA has started a one year (or rather 10 month) cinematography specialization course. It's just about as expensive as the general film making course. It seems ideal for a cinematographer who wants to skip the theory and move into practice. Can the experts and other members put in their thoughts on this? here's the link: nyfa cinematography link
  7. Hello, We're making a short film which has an important car chase scene. We're going to use a canon-hf s100 HD camcorder. We'll be shooting the beginning portions before the chase in 24p Cine mode. I'm as new to HD as i am to this community, therefore a little confused about what format to shoot the chase in. 1)Some say that 30p is best for action. 2)Will it be drastically different if we shoot one portion in 24p and then the following in 30p? 3)Is 24p something that you would recommend? Please Help. Thankyou.
