  1. I've shot super-16 greenscreen and had great results. Why not rent an MOS camera for the day instead of buying. While you're at it, grab a person with film experience and use them as second unit and pick their brain. You'll get your shot, learn about film and perhaps save money. I know this gives up a bit of creative control, but in the long run it may be worth it.

    Peleng 8mm

I've used the Peleng with an M42 to c-mount adapter and it works quite well. A bit of bend, but as it was stated before, not as bad on 16 as 35. This may be the best deal for an 8mm lens that covers super 16. Keep that lens extra clean while shooting. Jeff NYC DP
  3. From what I've read, this film was shot on 16mm, I'm assuming super16. In viewing, it appeared grainier and less saturated that other blowups that I've seen. Most likely this was intentional, serving the grit of the story. I was just wondering if anyone had any knowledge of the technique used for the look as I haven't seen much written on the subject, other than them using a DI. Jeff Roberts NYC DP
  4. It could be due to underexposure. I've tested Eterna myself and liked it alot. Also rating it at 400 it was very fine grained and as David mentioned low contrast. I found however that it doesn't deal quite as well with underexposure as the vision2 stocks. I'd like to test pushing a stop to see where the grain and contrast go... Oh- I shot on s16.
  5. Does anyone out there have any information on what stock and processing method(s) were used on this film. I saw it yesterday and was surprised by its Texas Chainsaw Massacre look. With todays stocks, super16 generally looks a lot cleaner. Jeff Roberts NYC DP
  6. Absolutely untrue. Negative is the preferred source as it is the cleanest. I do it all the time. Jeff
