You guys are all probably right, I was just getting insecure about it being so low budget and all. I shouldn't dump the film. People really seem to like it but it's tough to find the right platform to show a feature film. Any ideas?

Hi, I competed a feature length film titled DETERMINISM last August and now we've been struggling to finish all the paperwork over some issues with the talent. I fear that becayse the film was shot on a Sony FX-1 that the digital cinematography will now appear to look obsolete compared to all the amazing advancement in digital cinema in the past 2 years. Do you guys thinks audiences will object to our films look? Hi, I just want to know your picks for the most visually striking digital films you all have seen. Please just don't include digital movies that look close to 35mm. I want to know your honest picks of the most interesting, beautiful, and dazzling digital films you all have seen. Remember, interesting, beautiful, and dazzling is not necessarily owned by 35mm film.

That's what I'm struggling with. There has to be a way to attract attention that doesn't involve spamming or a prison sentence.

Well I'm not too concerned about Festivals, I already have some experience with them, but even if a lower budget indie film goes to Sundance nowadays, their trailers don't get that much viewership online. There has to be a free way of promoting a trailer so millions can see it online.

Not sure, but the Coens made a trailer for Blood Simple before shooting it and that helped them get financing from smaller business owners. James Wan filmed an entire scene to get Saw off the ground. If there is any elaborate jaw dropping scene in the script, try shooting that.

I just recently completed my 2nd feature length film "Determinism" and all I can think about now is the marketing of it. I know many filmmakers don't focus too much on that aspect of film making, but nowadays it's essential that filmmakers become proactive about getting their content out there. Stanley Kubrick was very hands on with his marketing campaigns and in a strange way, a marketing campaign almost creates a visual and auditory "culture" around a specific film. My twin brother and I have been working round the clock on Determinism's website and trailers. We've been using twitter, to get the trailers seen but there has to be another cheap way of promoting a film. Here's a link to the recently cut theatrical trailer for out film:

Thanks for the advice. I'm working with a couple of professionals right now who truly believe in the film and want to get it out there. We're thinking about distributing the film online though various portals to collect ad revenue and so on, but I hope the film can garner some industry attention. Right now the indie film scene is in dire straights so I'm not too sure about my chances. I'm gonna' graduate in the summer and I'm hoping to find some kind of a day job in the industry. We're almost done with our feature length film "Determinism," which was filmed completely on a Sony FX-1 in cineframe 30 mode. I wasn't pleased with CF 24 and we're planning to release the film in 30P HD anyway later in the year through various online portals and digital exhibition facilities. 24P isn't really necessary for low-budget films now anyway cause now the only way these films find an audience in online or on DVD. I just completed my second no budget feature length film "Determinism," using only one Sony FX-1 HDV camcorder and available or practical lighting. Sometimes we used a wallmart bought flood light and gelled it certain colors or we used a desk lamp for few scenes. We didn't use any professional lighting equipment or setups, but the film looks good. My DP didn't have any experience with professional lighting setups or cameras, but it didn't matter cause all that stuff consumes time and money anyway.
