  1. The only difference for you would be size and weight, and the potential to use a relay lens on the EX3. The are a handful of relay lenses that work with the EX3, they reduce light loss, increase sharpness, and reduce weight and length.

Without a relay lens, you will see no difference between an EX1 and an EX3.

There is no camera that matches the EX in it's price range.

    Hi David,

Thanks for the info. Question, which relay lenses would you recommend?

  2. Hello All,

I am in the process of purchasing the Sony EX3 as well as a Redrock Micro Encore 35mm adapter.

Question, is there a difference between using the EX1 or EX3 with the REDrock.

When I say difference, I mean difference in quality, just to clarify.

The EX3 is more expensive and when paired together with other accessories like a Matt Box, Shoulder mount, Lenses and extra tape-less media I'm beginning to wonder if it is worth it.

Also, is there another camera with a larger chip and greater image quality around the same price?

Advice would be more than appreciated!

    Thanks.

  3. Hi everyone! This is my first post as part of Cinematography.com

I am having a hard time deciding whether or not I should buy the Sony EX3 w/ a Red Rock Micro Encore 35mm adapter or wait for Reds Scarlet to be released, hopefully Aug. or Sept.

Is the Sony EX3 a dead end product once the Scarlet surfaces? If I do purchase the Sony and the Scarlet comes out with I even be able to sell it? Should I buy a used Panasonic HVX while I wait, even though P2 cards are more expensive then Sony's tape-less media?

I would very much appreciate it if you guys can give me some advice.

    Thanks!

    Adam
