  2. Jeremy, You can get that 90's look with the right ingredients. Filmstock: Shoot on Kodak 500T 5219, underexpose by 1/3 stop, push 1 stop in processing. Lenses: Use Zeiss Superspeeds(any series is fine) or LOMO primes (use the 77-89 lenses) Lighting: Employ purposeful separation with sidelight, edge light and kickers. DO NOT USE LED's. The TEXTURE of the light is VERY important in re-creating the 90's. Utilize Tungsten fixtures, T12 KINOFLO's and Chinese lanterns with incandescent or quartz(500 or 1000 watt bulbs) and HMI's. Make some covered wagons using ceramic light sockets that burn incandescent bulbs. Employ a bit of overhead lighting when possible. Atmosphere: Rent a HAZER not a fog machine. Use it in the background. Test it to see if you like the look. POST: Find a post house that has a CRT Telecine and make a transfer. Ohhh.. those CRT transfers really have a nice quality to the colors. It will take you even closer to the 90's look. KNOWLEDGE: Read key 90's issues of AMERICAN CINEMATOGRAPHER(ie; The issue about how Khondji shot SE7EN, THE CITY OF LOST CHILDREN issue, the FIGHT CLUB issue, the GLADIATOR issue, The MAY 1993 issue, The 1996 MISSION IMPOSSIBLE issue. YOU CAN GET THAT 90's LOOK WITH TODAY'S GEAR. Arm you self with knowledge and experiment.

  4. Hire a local drone operator to fly in a circular pattern around the subject, with an LED fixture attached to the drone.
  5. I have used both DHL and FEDEX to ship motion picture film across international borders with no problems. Write 'DO NOT X-RAY' on the package, place stickers with the same words on the package. Communicate to the customer service representative your concerns just to put your mind at ease. It will be fine.
  6. There are several Konvas/KINOR users in Toronto. Contact Victor Huey. He is a member here. Send a message through Konvas.org user list serv. You will no doubt find a Konvaseer, going that route.
  7. Hi, Max. The LOMO 75mm OCT19 lens is still for sale.
  8. The story of getting this film actually made is very interesting. Apparently, a complete feature was shot and then shelved. This is the second and the successful effort. I am happy to see a finished product. Well done.
  9. @Guy Holt The drop ceiling grid setup is a game changer. Thanks for sharing those pictures and that info.
  10. Great film. The trips between the moon and earth was thriller, even though I knew the outcome. I watched it in digital projection during its opening weekend. I just checked and found out that it is screening at an Air and Space museum near me. I'm excited to see it projected on 70mm film!!

  13. There was a place in Los Angeles called GEOVISION. The used to rent the BEAUCAM. I'm not sure if they still have the camera or if that rental house still exists. It may have been sold to a guy in the UK. Talk to Ian Speed at Camera Revolution in the UK. https://camerarevolution.com/equipment/vista-vision/ I'm not sure who has these cameras here in the USA.
  14. Pav, Nice! That 25mm lens looks pretty good.
  15. Aaron, The CP's are a good deal for that price point. They are well built and resolve high quality imagery. I vote for this set because they are more neutral than other brands, allowing you more options for a wider range of projects( narrative, composting, documentary work).
  16. Hey Vic. I would like to buy this camera body. What is your asking price?
  17. Excellent. Thanks for posting that info. Does your labs process both, 35mm and 16mm? Are you aware of any labs in INDIA that process Super 8mm color negative film? Thanks.
  18. We have all been sitting on the sidelines watching the decline of KODAK and FUJI. I want it to be known that I am a FILM DEVOTEE and I plan to do something about the problem. I am building a worldwide organization people dedicated to FILM and putting film and film cameras into the hands of the common man. We need people in each state in the US, all of EUROPE, ASIA and AFRICA. I am now stockpiling cameras and filmstock of every gauge(8mm, Super 8, Single 8, 16mm, 35mm and yes..65mm). The goal is to permeate the public conscious to a greater degree than a local or international film festival would. There will be donations of film and cameras, contests, other events and guerilla crews filming major events with film cameras. I am now beginning a dialog with several film labs to create packages simialr to the FUJI COMPLETE 16 deal. Forming a nonprofit organization (501 c3) is the first legitimate step. If you are not intrested fine, keep your negative comments to yourself and carry on. If you want to join me in this fight, send me a PM. Thanks
  19. I watched the film yesterday at a theater that had a SONY 4K projector, yet the 35mm anamorphic footage was scanned at 2K, and the 65mm footage at 8K. Cinematographer Greig Fraser shot the movie and it looked great. This is the first time I've seen KODAK 5230 on the big screen and also in 65mm. 65mm was used on the wide shots and 35mm anamorphic for the mids and close-up shots. The 65mm shots were stunning. 5201 and 5207 in 65mm is..WOW!! The 5230 has the smoky shadows of 5218, but the 'edge' that looks more like 5219. Yeah, it's a popcorn fairytale movie,so what. I had some issues with Charlize Theron's performance, but overall- a job well done.
