Hello, I have a Switar 10mm, a Switar 25mm, a Switar POE zoom 16-100, should I get anymore primes? If so, which ones? And are the old Canon zoom TV lenses better than this Switar zoom? Thanks. bp.

\ I'm kind of a newbie to all this stuff, but this is my 2 cents. 24p is the frame rate of high-budget movies so the eye is predisposed to thinking something is beautiful, expensive, artful, if it is shot in 24. If you want clear, sharp, video, can't go wrong with these new, amazingly inexpensive HD video cameras from Sony. The video will look nothing like film, however.

Les Bosher is upgrading, as I write the missive, my Bolex EL Series 2 to Super 16. 2 Questions: If I have a 25mm Switar, a 10mm switar and a POE 16-100, do I need the Bolex PL to C mount? and second question... Do I need to get the 400 magazine and MM motor I just bought on Ebay to be converted to Super 16 format like the camera body? Les Bosher says no. Jesse Chambliss, the Bolex U.S.A. Dealer says yes, at a cost of $250, so the magazine and rollers don't scratch the film.... What do you guys think? Bp.

Wow, thanks everyone. Great stuff. I will bag the matte box, use the Switar POE 16-100. And get a couple of filters that will fit right on the lens.

To add a 4x4 matte box I would require :- Support interface GBP 64.00 Support Bars with extenders GBP184.00 Matte Box GBP350.00 Do I need this stuff on my Bolex EL? I am new to this film and don't understand the purpose of extra expense. Please inform. Also, taking the advise I received here, I'm thinking about buying a Canon 17-102mm f2 c-mount TV zoom lens V6x17 for the bolex. This was originally a video camera lens, I think. Would I get good results shooting my bolex super 16 el through this glass? And if it is a C-mount do I need an adabter? Thanks, Billy

Hello, I am having Les Bocher in Wales convert my bolex el to super 16. This is a good idea, right? Also, was thinking of having Les adobt the camera for other lenses although I have a Switer POE 16-100, and two primes: a 25mm and a 50 mm both Switer. Should I send all that cash or just rent?

I am shooting tv commercials and am thinking about investing in a camera (up until now I've rented). If I am not going to blow up to 35mm, is 16mm as good as super 16 for TV?
