  1. I'm still a student, but I've been doing freelance video for about three years and 2009 was by far my busiest on that end. 2010 is looking even better. The economy has been so bad people have been willing to settle for me and my prosumer HD camera over more expensive options. I'm doing a feature that was originally set to be shot on a Red with an HVX in the spring because they just couldn't budget it. I got bumped from AC to DP. Sucks for them, great for me! :P
  2. Also, I wasn't recommending that for professional shoots or anything, it's just a no-budget solution that worked for me.
  3. Funny, I JUST rigged my own setup to do this about four days ago. I'm shooting a video for a contest where I wore the device for a whole day and did a time lapse so it all fit into about two minutes. I used sturdy backpack with a tripod strapped to it (make sure it's tight, I had to use a lot of gaff tape as well) then wore the backpack backwards. It looked cheesy, but it worked perfectly. It didn't shift once the whole day.
  4. Yeah, the cinematography in The Game is the entire reason I'm studying to be a cinematographer right now. I hope this lecture video turns up, I'd love to see it!
  5. I go to school with a guy who bought a Letus setup for his DVX100 (or was it an XL2? doesn't matter) He was having trouble getting the picture in focus and asked a few of us for advice. One person told him to try closing down his iris to increase DOF. That didn't make sense to me, since 35 mm adapters were explained to me as "projecting" a new, flattened image through the fixed lens and onto the chip, so the iris on the camera shouldn't effect the depth of field, just the focus (and brightness, obviously) Is this correct, or am I way off here? I only have thirdhand knowledge on this stuff, and I'd like to understand the technology before I buy one. Oh, and it turned out the guy with the adapter had just ordered the wrong setup for his camera. Thanks, rob
