  1. Here's what i found on Wikipedia "... In contrast to standard music video imagery, the film consists primarily of footage of the band members wandering around the farm, while Herbert utilizes close-ups, silhouettes, and slow motion footage. Herbert utilized rephotography during the editing process, which involved taking photographs of film frames at random, while also closing in or pulling back from the image with no regard to narrative. According to Buck, "It was really inexpensive to make and kind of fun. We just asked [Herbert] to edit something to four minutes' length, but he's used to making 20-minute films, that's the length he works in. He just made this film that goes along with the first side of the record." Still nothing about either format...
  2. I always liked the films(or videos) art teacher James Herbert did for the band 'R.E.M' back in the 1980's. Does anyone know the formats used for the 'Pretty Persuasion/Harbourcoat' films? Or the one for 'It's the end of the world as we know it(and I feel fine)' ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bmxyj6iInMc They look like different formats.
  3. I have a bell and Howell Filmo 70 DA and also a Bell and Howell 200EE However, when I went to put a lens from the 70 DA on the front of the 200EE,I found it was a different size. (and yes,I removed the filter ring from the 200 first) What gives? I want to order some lenses, but do I need an adapter?
  4. Regarding the oil/lubrication of the Filmo 70 series (I have a filmo DA70) What oil is recommended to use on the thing? I mean current, over the counter oil.
  5. That was excellent...what type of super 8 film stock did you use?
  6. I was graciously given some music to use for some films. However, when it was sent as an .aiff file,I couldn't open it on my PC. Without getting a Mac, is there some software/freeware I need to have to download this?
  7. if you make one for an incredibly cheap amount of money, or sell it to a phone company,it is possible to make money from it. Take this film for example http://www.youtube.com/user/TheRoyalCity#p/u/6/AOEgn8y3yIg I was given 5 kodak B&W disposables for free from an online group. The supermarket developed the negs, and scanned to a disc for $2.99 cdn. I used windows movie maker, and got the soundtrack online for free (It sounds awful, I know.) Total investment- $2.99 Cdn. I have been offered 5 dollars for every dvd I can make of it, so it is possible to make money from it. But not a lot.
  8. Java photo has double 8mm I believe.
  9. There have been a lot of good films from Europe and Asia...but the trend towards Bad american films is why I started writing treatments and screenplays, which got me back into Film making. Far too many 'Son of Mask" "Scary Movie" "Date Movie" "I know who killed me" etc, etc. These films cost a fortune, and for what? I think even Jim Carrey has realized the futility. I will name 10 Non-english films that were original in their writing and cinematography. Think Paris, the Mexican countryside,Stockholm in the early 80's in winter, East Berlin etc. Let The Right One In City Of God Amelie Y tu Mama tambien The Host Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Pan's Labyrinth The lives of others The Diving bell and the butterfly. Amores Perros I'm not opposed to North American films, as there have been some really good ones. But the Hitchcock remakes, remakes of 'The Ring', and now "Let me in" (a remake of a film less than 2 years old) and the endless sequels are a sign that domestic studios are being run not by innovators and visionaries, but imitators and copycats.
  10. Olivier...great job. And I like the oversaturated colour. I'd leave it.
  11. Marty, where'd ya get the Fuji Velvia? In Ontario?
