Fuji discontinued the 400 last year I thought, but may be special ordered not sure. Kodak 5229 would be perfect for the look you're trying to get, but Kodak discontinued that stock last year - however I think you can special order it.

That Fuji news was/is shocking, but then it just makes sense what with 3% of the market share they always held in the mpf market, and now you have that 3% share with drastically declining film sales all around. Why would they continue with it?

I know Image Gear in Toronto have a Marshall 3GSDI on sale - it's a 7" and that really should be sufficient enough for you if you want to cut down on the expense. They also have a Panasonic 1710 for under $2,600. Outside of that the TV Logics are super nice and the 5.6" ones can retail for close to $1,700.

Dizzy symptoms could be related to sun stroke too, however given you live in the UK, I doubt that would have been your problem.

I think pricing is all pretty much relative to buying tickets to any entertainment event whether it be a music concert, stand up, live theatre, circus, etc.

my experience with film (as long as it's not the Kodak 800T) is that 3 years in a closet will yield a pretty similar result as if it was stored in a fridge. Saturation if anything will fall off a bit. Of course that's only if your closet is not a hot box. ;)

totally overused these days, but you can achieve this effect simply with a blue streak filter if you wanted to do it on the cheap. ;)

It doesn't look good. Vancouver is now losing their joint Technicolor/Deluxe lab and I hear a lot of lab closings are in the works for LA - to come official early 2013. You can still buy it sure, but where do you get it developed?

So happy you decided to stick with film - The Killing is such a beautifully shot series, and without the fantastic cinematography, I'm afraid I'd personally have not much of an investment in who exactly killed Rosie. ;) I'm curious about the decision to shoot in Vancouver vs. Seattle - Vancouver keeps popping up in a lot of scenes. Are the incentives to shoot in Canada that much greater? - proximity-wise, they're so close to eachother, and I love that Seattle was chosen as the back drop.

Aubrey is a troll - come on now. Everyone should have figured that out in "her" first post. Aubrey's subsequent posts just merely beat you over the head with it.

typical RGB readings on any of those stocks should be 14-20 for R, 50-65 for G, 84-100 for B. Red is the outer layer and looks to be totally shot for those stocks you have, meaning they'll produce a variety of uncontrolled results from a faded, grainy, desaturated picture, to not rendering much of an image at all. If you're shooting something a little experimental, they try it, but that stock really belongs in the recycling bin to be quite honest.

Sorry, no link, but it's happening. I think Deluxe is shutting it down some time this month, and Technicolor in May. Sad.

Concordia University has one of the best filmmaking programs out there. And it's in Canada's best city. For Toronto, I hear Ryerson is pretty good.
