  1. many thanks. another question- hopefully someone will pick up on it- i was led to understand that a scan of negative to negative will have more latitude and allow me more freedom in image correction on computer than scanning to positive. though it sounds reasonable i'm just checking if someone here had experience with it and can confirm it. thanks again.
  2. I plan to send the film to Andec film in germany. I think they use scanning.Do you mean that as part of the scanning process the film is reversed?? (apologies for ignorance)
  3. Many thanks Charles, Had a look at Ansel Adams and it does seem facinating. I tend run towards the 'fun part', the making, neglecting the learning process which is a mistake.
  4. This was post earlier in the wrong forum so I copy paste it here. Apologize for mass publishing this. Hello, I'm in the process of shooting a short film (20-25 min). I've started shooting on dbl-x which gives great results. I'm funding the project alone and I'll have about an hour if not more of film so obviously the costs of process, print and telecine scare me to death. I'm working with premier to edit the film and I know that the 'Invert' function transforms the negs into pos. I have done it a couple of times but since I don't have a film telecined on both neg and pos I can't really compare. Can anyone tell me if inverting the film on computer drastically damages the quality, and can anyone give me some technical advises about improving the invertion (if possible? I also have access to final cut, would that do any better? Does anyone have any online examples of film inverted using software? Though I'm trying to keep low costs quality is important to me. Thanks for your time, again. Assaf
  5. Just relized this might not be the right forum for this post. I apologize and will copy paste to the correct one

  7. thanks for the reply. I'm just making sure here: I know DI stands for digital import, you do mean computer software right? at any case i think i'll take up on your advise and will push process. Thanks again
  8. Hi all, I've just started a short film on b&w dbl-x and did a very unfortunate mistake by underexposing by a stop. I was shooting a simple out door scene on a cloudy day, the bg was mid range brightness (a council estate building with white doors) and the foreground was a light skinned man wearing a dark shirt standing and singing to the camera, which was fixed. We had another couple of takes after but, as sometimes happens, the magic was gone. my question is probably simple to some of you: should I push process or correct it on digital editing suit? I was trying to follow some conversations on this website and there seem to be some disagreements about the function of push processing (and after a heated debate the language exceeded my ability to follow; DI, sensitometric strips, silver halide and other such peculiar words). I would appreciate if anyone can give me some guidelines/suggestions in simple terms. Many thanks, Assaf
  9. Hi there, I'm looking for any acl motor to pull the 400' mags on acl 1; heavy duty, CP, Tobin etc. If you have any of those and interested in selling please get in touch. Many thanks, Assaf
  10. Hey Paco, It's been 2 years I know but have you still got those mags? Thanks Assaf
  11. I recently purchased an acl 1 with the original motor and 2x english. I alsready gathered that I have the lowest ranking Eclair, and I'm just fine with that! But I am sleepless as I'm dying to go out and shoot with it but I'm still working on sorting out the batteries. My question is what do people reccomend me to do, replace or upgrade? Another question is does anyone have or know where to get a Heavy Duty or CP motor? And does anyone know roughly what are the prices for these motors? Many thanks in advance, Assaf
