  1. I've been looking at buying an adapter for my XL 1 camera and then some EOS lenses. The stock XL1 lenses are extremely expencive, and the EOS adapter from Canon isn't exactly cheap either. I heard the main difference between Canons adapter and the 3. part adapters is that with Canon you can still use everything automatic. But I prefer working manually anyway, so my wuestion is which brand should I buy? On ebay I can only find an adapter made of ABS plastick.. Not to sure about that since the lens is quite heavy and you never know if you're going to bump into something.. Please help me out here. I need an adapter pretty quick because of a documentary we start shooting this fall. Thanx!
  2. The XM2 is known as the GL2 in the US I think..
  3. Hi. I just sold my Canon XL1 camera because it was a NTSC cam, and since I live in Europe it's a problem with multiple camera productions. I'm going to buy a "new" camera soon. I have ended up with 2 possibilities: 1. A new Canon XM2 from the store, included wide angle, 3 BP-945 batteries and a MA-300 adapter for XLR. The price is about 4100$ 2. A used Sony PD170, but it has only been used for 30 hours. 9 months old Included wide angle lens, 4 NP-F960 batteries and an AC-V700A adapter. Price is about 4300$ I will use the camera mostly for documentary use, and perhaps some short films. I have spoken with some camera stores and they tell me that the picture quality is almost the same, if not even better on the Canon XM2 because of the canon lenses. But the sound is better on the PD170 because they have XLR. But If I buy the XLR adapter for the XM2, it's almost the same camera. I'm really starting to get stuck between these two, don't know what to do... Another thing is that me and my friend are going to do a documentary together, and would preferably have the same camera. But will it make a big difference if one of us have a XM2 and one of us has a PD170? Can anyone here please give me som inputs on what they would do? Thanks, Dag.
  4. HI. I bought a XL1 camera when I was living in Canada for half a year. Now I'm back in Norway, and are still using this camera. Really enjoy working on it, but the problem is that noone else has NTSC (perhaps not to strange since PAL is the prefered system).. This means I can only do single camera productions. We are now planning to do multi camera production this spring, and I need my camera to be PAL system.. ANyone know who or how they/I can do that?
