  5. It may seem silly to open this issue up again, but I came across an old official Panavision document (printed on paper!) regarding the "green dot" on their ultra speed and super speed lenses. (prior to Primos). This memo (dated 1983) specifies in clear language: "The green dot can be happily ignored when using a tape to determine focus." Essentially, if the subject is 5 feet away from the film plane based on your tape, set the lens to 5 feet using the YELLOW witness mark (at ANY stop, even wide open.) It goes on to say: "If a tape run is impractical, (remember, this is BD...Before Disto) then focus as precisely as possible through the viewfinder and note the distance (footage) indication opposite the green dot. Now turn your footage scale until the same distance number is opposite the yellow witness mark." Am I correct in assuming the blue line works the same way for Primo lenses? If the answer is "yes", then I think some of the previous posts may be inaccurate, or at the very least confusing. Anyone out there know for sure?
