  1. Don't forget the Angenieux 25-250mm, 35mm zoom that covers super 16.
  2. Thanks Nathan...what a great development !
  3. I was wondering with super 16 being used a fair bit nowerdays for feature production and blown up to 35mm, have any bigger mags than 400ft ever been made for the aaton range ? Many thanks. Rob
  4. Hi, Anyone know the cinematography details of Ken Loaches classic KES, shot in 1970. Beautiful warm grainy photography. What lenses, film and actually was it 35mm or 16mm. I don't think super 16 was at all popular by 1970. Thanks Rob
  5. Hi it seems that the cookes are still a popular lens choice...can anyone tell me what focal lengths the full range of series 2 and 3 primes come in...and can they be converted to arri bayonet . Many thanks Rob Spence
  6. Hi, Are the cooke series 1, 2 and 3 still usable lenses compared with, say, superspeeds. Rob
  7. I was watching The original Italian Job last night on video...fantastic film. But what struck me was how vivid the cinematography is, does anyone know what lenses and film was used on the production. Many thanks Rob Spence
  8. Hi The title says it all really. Do all 35mm primes focus correctly on super 16 cameras...presuming the mount is correct. ie PL, Arri etc. Or do some have different focussing depths. Many thanks Rob
  9. Hi Nice footage. If you shot all the shots you have a very good natural eye for composition and everything seems techniacally good. ( as much as we can tell on the web!). You can work for me any time...if you're ever in the UK! You have the advantage of great natural lighting in the USA of course. Keep going mate , you're good. Would appreciate some technical info on your footage. Best of luck Rob
  10. Hi everyone I have an old Ange 25-250 ( covers 35 mm and obviuosly s16 ) does anyone know of any recent features that has used this lens...or even the last movie that did? Cheers Rob
  11. Thanks nmilford, For the pretty comprehensive answer..you obviously know the aaton really well Many thanks Rob
  12. Hi I am led to believe that the lens started out in the 1980's as a tv lens that was used on cameras with a 2 inch receptor ( don't know what system) but it does cover 35mm, I actually own one- which is why I know. Cheers Rob
  13. I must add once they are converted
  14. I'm about to test my aaton ltr 54. I know they improved later mags, but do the standard ones scratch the edges of super 16 or are they ok. After all they were built as super 16 from new.
  15. Hi Actually the fujinon 14-168 f1.9 covers 35mm film too
  16. Sorry Ivan, re matte box Fortean beat you to it , sorry.
  17. Hi I have a brand new unused mattbox for the npr. It's for sale should you require one.
  18. Hi, I've just bought a used Canon 8-64 zoom, lovely piece of engineering. So we're about to test all equipment. I'll let you know how the 'massaged' 12-120 holds up against it ( if at all !~ ). Cheers Rob
  19. Thanks chaps, I think I'll try Ian Marks idea of leaving it in a sunny place. I'll post it to the Bahamas and see what happens!
  20. Hi everyone, I need a video tap for my aaton ltr 54. The pellicle and internal video optics have been stripped out by a previous owner. Visual Products sell an internal black and white camera which uses a 1/3 inch CMOS chip camera and they can supply a pellicle. Has anyone used one and if so are they good? Also does anyone else make a reasonably priced tap? Thanks -Rob
  21. Hi. I've got a canon 12-120 fluorite that Les Bosher has recently 'massaged' to cover super 16 and it's still a 12-120! I think some machining was necessary at the rear of the lens. I've still to test it with film , I'll let you know the results when I do. Cheers Rob

    yellowing lens

Hi I've been given a cooke kinetal 50mm prime. Unfortunately the lens has yellowed, I've been told that this is due to some sort of radiation action within the glass. Does this means that the lens is now scrap or can it be rectified? Thanks Rob Spence.
  23. Hi, Is the angenieux 9.5-57 useable for super 16 and what are the optics like for quality? Can it be converted to s16, or is it not worth the bother? Many thanks Rob Spence
  24. Hi, The Eclair 35mm camera , I believe, can also use 16mm film without conversion. At least worth researching. Rob
  25. Thanks Chaps, for the speedy response. Those lists are pretty comprehensive. Les is converting an acl and npr for me, I am trying to get a feature made ( low budget of course ) and figured that in the end it's the lens and film that count as far as quality goes, the camera as long as it's reliable is less so. So I'm going for old Eclairs. The npr is built like a house, nice and strong, the acl will be used for hand held (it's really tiny) and car mounted work. As far as the lens lists go it seems that , if you want quality images, you have to pay the money. I'm no great fan of renting ( lost money ) and so may buy and sell once the production is finished. I like the idea of using Nikons as longer primes, but on the shorter primes again it's back to more expensive glass. I'm after 2x 400ft acl magazines if anyone hears of any. Many thanks-Rob
